We are going to the Christmas Party on the first night. People always say that "traditionally" they let you in starting at 4, but our tickets specifically say 7. Since we are the first night, how will I know if I can get in at 4 or not? We are not planning on that being a park day, so I don't want to use a park admission, just my party ticket.

You will only have to wait until the first Halloween party to know what will happen for the rest of the hard ticket parties for the year, but I feel pretty certain that it will continue to be 4pm. I'm planning in the first MVMCP too!

It's been 4 for years, and it's for crowd control (rather than having everyone trying to enter at 7), so I would really be surprised if they changed it. But since they do the same thing for the Halloween party, you would know for sure once those start.

I attended three parties in December and by a little after 3:00, lines were already formed at the tapstiles designated for MVMCP. The CMs in their party outfits were manning the tapstiles and beyond the tapstiles, the CMs with the wristbands were ready.

You can always stop at MK and if you see what I described, that means the gates open at 4:00. If you don't see anyone there, then you can go hang out at Contemp. If you are staying onsite, the Concierge at your resort can confirm the 4:00 opening. Actually, last year it was 3:45.

Thanks everyone. Great idea to just wait and see what happens with the Halloween Party.

I think that it is safe to plan on 4PM. I seriously doubt that Disney would chance having a hoard of people trying to get through the gates at 7PM. If you are concerned, have a backup plan, but honestly, I wouldn;t worry.
