MVMCP-Dec 2010- Cape Cod & Fall photos-Update 11/16

This past weekend I went to Grandma's house:

& I swam for about 2 hours in her pool:
IMG_4718.jpg

I LOVE that pool & I love to swim. I went in the pool a few weeks ago for the first time in about 20 years. I forgot how much it relaxes me & I really enjoyed myself. I made a promise to myself to get in there as often as possible.

Sunday, I went with my mom to put flowers at my Aunt's grave. Isis went for the ride (but stayed in the car, of course).

I think that SHE thinks she could drive if we let her.
CIMG0027.jpg

I got two more photos of her this weekend.

Last night we had some nasty storms. There was even a tornado warning for some of the towns north of us. I took some cloud photos with my cell phone. They aren't very good resolution.

John's parents closed the diner for the week because they went to Greece...so that means John is on vacation! I am happy that we can do a few local things. So far all I know is tomorrow we are going to Six Flags New England. I'm definitely bringing my camera, so I should have a few good photos for you soon.

Ooh! The pool looks so inviting right now!

Do you plan on having any pool time at your resort during your trip? We like to go for a swim in the evenings. I am so looking forward to that!

Aww! It looks like Isis loves going for car rides as much as Rosie does!

I am hoping to get a lot of pool time in during October. Stormalong Bay is so cool- I can't wait to swim in it!
It's funny you say that about Isis & car rides. She likes to be in the car for about an hour & then she starts to stress. I think it is because I got her right in the middle of a 2 month long car trip AND she took another month long car trip with me a year later. All I can imagine is that she's thinking "not another month in the car!!!" :rotfl:

Yesterday, John & I went to Six Flags New England. It is about an hour from my house & we got there at about 11:30am. We followed the crowds to the gate.

IMG_4749.jpg

We had already decided to pay for the Platinum Flash Pass- which means no waiting & you can ride twice in a row if you want to. John was really nervous about the biggest coaster in the park-Bizarro.
IMG_4728.jpg

IMG_4729.jpg

IMG_4730.jpg

The first drop is 221 feet & the coaster goes right under the ground. It lasts 3.5 minutes- which is actually long for a coaster. It doesn't go upside down or anything, but it is really intense. We rode Mind Eraser and Batman (both coasters with inversions) next.

IMG_4738.jpg

We headed to the other end of the park for a few more coasters.

IMG_4742.jpg

Now, here is what kills me. We went on the old rollercoaster at the park. The Cyclone is a wooden rollercoaster that has been there since 1941.
IMG_4741.jpg

IMG_4740.jpg

John & I sat right in the front & it became pretty clear that they need to rehab this coaster. It was the scariest ride of the day because it felt like the coaster was going to come off of the track AND I got banged around so much that I have bruises- and here's the kicker...my phone that was in a plastic bag, in a case, got broken. The touch screen was all cracked. Since I insured my phone, they are going to overnight a new one to me. I HATE not having a phone. It survived all of those crazy coasters, but not the old, wooden one.
Anyways- we ended up getting rained on 2 times (both times they closed rides). When it rained, we stopped for ice cream, looked in the shops, and played some games. Sorry I don't have more photos, but I didn't take many because of the rain. I have a video for you, though. John talked me into going on this barf-o-rama ride:

It was fun and I laughed, but all I can say is thank goodness for Dramamine!!!

All in all, it was a good day and it was a lot of fun. It is definitely expensive if you pay for the Flash Pass, but the trade off is not waiting in line. Six Flags also apparently has no control over their wasp & hornet population. They were EVERYWHERE. The park itself was very clean (besides the rest rooms) and they have cracked down on smoking. They have designated areas now. We both had a lot of fun.
I work until 7:30 tonight & get home at 8:30, so I won't see much of John. He is on vacation (which is VERY rare) & goes back to work Monday, so I have to cram in as much fun as I can this weekend. I'm trying to talk him into a whale watch in Boston Harbor. Have a great weekend!

All of those coasters look WAY too scary for me!!!

Haha, I don't mind going upside down... but I HATE going uphill and I HATE going downhill!

Oh no! Sorry about your phone!!!!

You take some really good pictures!!:cool1:

I would love to see disney during halloween some day!! I am curious to see your costume this year!

Love the pictures from Six Flags. I haven't been there since it was just Riverside. I used to love the Cyclone, but even then it was always very jarring!

That's too funny- I hate going uphill, but I love going downhill!! My insurance actually overnighted me a new phone right away, so it worked out very well.

I love this picture of her! The expression on her face is too cute!

And I agree w/the other poster, those coasters are too much for me!

Thanks! The only one that is REALLY intense is Bizarro. That is the 211 foot drop! The Cyclone was just scary. I just felt like it was going to fall apart!
Isis has so many expressions- it is so funny. I've never had a dog who made so many expressions before.

Thanks! Disney at Halloween is a MUST-do! I have to get moving on picking out a costume. I'm still clueless. :confused3

I'm telling you- if you go to Six Flags, skip that ride!!!! :scared1:

It was an awesome weekend. Saturday we went to a whale watch in Boston. It took less than an hour to get there & we parked in the Faneuil Hall garage. We exited the garage & saw part of the Faneuil Hall shopping area:
IMG_4757.jpg

I resisted the urge to shop. I went to pick up our tickets because I ordered them online earlier. (Good thing, too, since they were sold out when we arrived!)

There was plenty to see while we waited for departure.

Then our boat arrived:

Some photos along the way:

It took us about 1.5 hours to get to the Gulf of Maine. I stayed in the interior of the boat most of that time. I ventured out once while we were moving quickly, but it felt like the wind was going to blow my glasses off, so I decide it was best to stay inside. We saw about 4 whales, but I didn’t get too many good photos. There were too many people on the boat and the whales didn’t surface a heck of a lot. It was still very impressive to see them, though & I really enjoyed it.

Continued in next post….

For those of you who don’t know, John’s family owns a diner, so I usually only see him from 8pm until he falls asleep (which is early since he gets up for work at 3:30am). So being able to go out for breakfast with him Sunday was a treat! After breakfast, we headed up to Ipswich, MA to Wolf Hollow. They have 5 wolves there & they give presentations on the weekend.
The presentation was great. The Alpha male (Weeble) and a female (Nina) were both behind a fence during the presentation. The woman giving the presentation had treats and showed us how the female would jump up to get the treats, but the Alpha male wouldn’t. She brought out some cheese, though, and that was a whole different story. They LOVE cheese! There was another female named Jelly. She was supposed to be the Alpha female, but she just doesn’t like other wolves. They have to keep her by herself & have people visit her through the day. I guess she loves people & is happy without other animals. The other enclosure there holds Osa who is Nina’s sister (they don’t get along) and Bear. Osa WAS living alone, but…some genius living in Revere decided he was going to get a wolf/husky (knowing it is illegal in MA) and keep it in a 3 bedroom apartment. Well, after 2 days Bear ripped up everything & howled so much that the neighbors called police. The police told the guy to find a licensed facility to take Bear or they would euthanize him. It worked out well because Wolf Hollow needed a companion for Osa.

I wanted to take Jelly home! That was a great end to a great weekend. This week, John is getting everything at the diner ready to re-open next Monday. I’m hoping to talk him into a vineyard tour this weekend, though. Wish me luck!

Before I go back and read from the beginning I want to say that my DH and I will be in the world October 2-10. Our trip overlaps A LOT. I can't wait to "hear" your plans as I read!

Welcome! I am thinking of planning a meet during that week- maybe during MK PM EMH or MNSSHP. What do you think?

Those wolves look so neat! I'd love to go to something like that. & I'd cry like a baby to see a whale.

I love the whale and wolf pictures! So cool!

I've been dolphin watching a few times... but never whale watching! I want to go so bad!!! When I was little I LOVED whales and my 2nd grade class took a whale watching field trip. I was soooo excited and so looking forward to it! Then the day of the trip I woke up really sick and couldn't go to school! I was so upset I missed the trip! I hope that one day I'll be able to go whale watching!

Yowza! You packed a lot of great stuff into one weekend. There's no way that I would have gotten on any of those coasters! You are a much braver woman that I am that's for sure.

The whale watching sounds fantastic! The closest I would get to watching an aquatic animal around my house is a turtle or a fish.

Aww those wolves looked so happy eating their cheese and treats. I know your love for animals so I am sure that the whale watching and seeing the wolves were the highlight of your weekend.

You are very lucky to have so many interesting things nearby. We have nothing even remotely interesting near our home.

I would highly recommend both to anyone! The best was hearing the wolves howl. They were just awesome!

You definitely should go whale watching. It was great! Though I have to say- I saw more in Alaska when I was there. I think they may like cooler water more than warmer water.

I bet I could get you to go on the big coaster that doesn't go upside down. ;)

I would love it if I had turtles around my house. I have 2 in a big tank in my house. It kills me because I would love to let them go, but our winters would be WAY too cold for this species.

I really loved the whale watch and wolves. John loved the wolves a little more than the whales, I think. I did, too. :)

We have a lot to do here, but I bet your scenery is a lot more interesting in Louisiana! You definitely have us beat as far as warmer weather. :goodvibes

I'm going to go over & read more about your trip to Georgia now. I'm loving your mini-TR within a TR!

I picked a costume- it may be a bit of a cop-out, but I decided to go as a Merlotte's employee. For those of you scratching your heads :rotfl:, it is a "True Blood" thing. I wanted to wear a costume, but I guess I really didn't want something I was going to be sweating in or something that would make it difficult to get on & off rides. I can wear the t-shirt & apron with shorts & it will be very comfortable. I need to get an order pad & pen or something, too. Or maybe I will put a pencil behind my ear. I will be interested to see how many people actually know what I am supposed to be, too! Here is the photo from the website:

I'm SOOOOO looking forward to this vacation.

This weekend we went to dinner at an orchard/vineyard. They had the best wine ever. They grow the grapes that make it! The food was tasty.

This week is shaping up to be a crazy one. I may update my itinerary & I will post it ASAP. I hope everyone is still with me after not having Disney updates for a while!
