MVMCP and FP + and other questions

We are going to Orlando/Disney/Universal from 7-22 Nov. We have 14 day tickets for WDW etc, plus a MVMCP ticket for the 8th. We don't plan to start our 14 day ticket till the 9th so we have the full 14 days, and the possibility of using it our last morning, so we plan to use the event ticket to enter the park at 4pm on the 8th.

I have a couple of questions. Everything is linked in My Disney Experience. I'm a little worried that if I enter on the party ticket, and then buy the magic band, somehow that might activate the 14 day ticket a day earlier than we intended. I'm hoping I'm being ridiculous, and I suspect everything works seamlessly, but just checking.

The other question is, can I book fast passes through MDE for the time period between 4-7 pm? I would only have my paper ticket and event wristband so nothing to touch to the FP thingy. Again, I don't want to activate my 14 day pass so how would I do the fast pass? Or does MDE tell the card somehow at that point that it's actually now 15 days? I know the Party Magic Bands aren't available until the party actually starts, and we're not staying on the property so no other advanced bands.

If any of this sounds insanely stupid please feel free to laugh at my expense. I'm loving the MDE etc in theory, but just need some clarification.

If we can't FP between 4-7pm that's not a problem, but if it's possible it would be nice.

Thanks in advance

Buying a Magic Band doesn't activate tickets - it's just a link to your MDE account.

Yes you can FP, but it is recommended you book them from 3:30-6:30.

Ahh, they can be used for up to an hour from their original time? So a 3:30 one could be used around 4:25 etc? As obviously we can't enter the park until 4.

And how would we use them without a card or wristband? Just show them in our MDE?

You should be able to exchange your paper tickets for RFID-enabled plastic cards when you enter.

Sorry probably not being clear. We won't have a magic band before they start selling the event ones, so how do we 'prove' our FP without a band. Our cards we received are 14 day tickets, so I'm not sure if we can use them for the FP. It's a bit of a muddle. If we enter the park on our party ticket, the cards may act the same as the magic band then and know the 14 day tickets haven't been activated?

From other posts I have read if you only have a paper ticket you will not be able to use fast passes. You have to have a band or card to scan. From my experience last year at the MVMCP you should be able to ride all the rides you want without a fast pass and have short wait times.

Ok thanks :)

I do actually have a card I was sent when I purchased my 14 day Unlimited pass. I thought it was specifically connected to that pass (it shows like it is in MDE), but I'm thinking now it might be acting like the magic bands and just store the MDE info. If that's the case if I enter the park on the paper party ticket, the plastic card could then be used for FP without it activating the 14 day ticket?

No you can get a plastic card for the party also. I have those! I opted for mine to be mailed instead of printed at home and I got plastic cards.

If you have a plastic card ticket, it can be used to access anything in your MDE account, just like a MagicBand. If your Party Ticket shows in your MDE account, then it can be accessed.
The card does not need to be "activated."

Unfortunately being in the UK I didn't have that option. We only had the printed at home option.

Thanks, I'm starting to feel a bit more secure about it. My main worry is I don't want to accidentally waste a day of the '14 days' at the beginning of the trip when I'm trying to save it for the end. But it sounds like everything pretty much works seemlessly.
