Musty smelling clothes

I am in the process of turning the spare junk room into a walk in closet I cleaned out all the dressers yesterday. The clothes in the dressers were very musty smelling. All had to be washed before hanging up.
Is there somethign I can do to prevent this musty smell from happening again?

Try putting a dryer sheet in the drawer

I have tried dryer sheets. Some of the clothes have been in dresser drawers for several months (like summer clothes in the winter).

Try baking Soda

either was them with baking soda and your detergent
or when in the dresser or closet place a small box or dish of it inside.

I never thought of baking soda... I will try that.
