I'll be staying at the Poly 3-17 July - what are the best counter-service restaurants throughout the "world" that I should try?

Many thanks! :p

I'm not sure if this exactly qualifies as counter service, though they do have a counter, but Beaches and Cream at the Yacht and Beach Club is one of our favorites. They have great food, great atmosphere and really good milkshakes.

For plain old fast food, we love Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland. They have a teriffic toppings bar so you can just get a plain burger and fries but really load it up for no extra charge.

Wolfgang Puck's Express in the Marketplace at Downtown Disney is also good.

I'm getting hungry just thinking about all these places.

Disnee Dad Says.................................... Wolfgang Pucks Express at DD is a great choice.
Yakitori House in Japan at EPCOT, Harry Ramsden in UK at EPCOT,Cantina de San Angel in Mexico at EPCOT.

Tusker House at AK

Columbia Harbour House at MK

Kona Cafe at the Poly

Any place you can get a smoked turkey leg. Warning, it will not taste like turkey, it's more like a ham flavor, deep and rich and very filling.

Another vote for Beaches 'n' Cream. Wonderful burgers and onion rings and the milkshakes and sundaes are out of this world.

Pirata y Perico in MK

Pizzafari in AK

The Land in Epcot has a good food court

I've never eaten counter food in MGM (unless you count Dinosaur Gertie's ice cream);)

Yep, forgot this one in my earlier reply. We eat there at least once each trip. We used to enjoy Pasta Piazza but they went and closed it for some reason.

Disneygeek,

Pirata y perico is across from Pirates of the Caribbean also attached to Pecos Bill. Pirata y Perico was closed when I was there in June from 11th to 21st.

Anotgher vote for cosmic rays, the chicken and mashed potato deal is awesome! Plus they also have burgers.

The landin epcot also has a great selection for everyone.

Ok...finally a topic I can sink my teeth into (pun definately intended)!

Well number one on our family's list is the resturant inside the Mexico pavillion in Epcot. We're major fans of Mexican in general, but they do something to their ground beef that makes it almost addictive! That and the theming and atmosphere make it tops on our list.

Alfredo's is more than likely our top expensive resturant.

I know it's not Disney per say...but we love getting breakfast at the Rain Forest Cafe outside of Animal Kingdom before the park opens. There's just something emersive about the experience that really gets us in the mood for a day in the park...and yes we spend an ENTIRE DAY in Animal Kingdom!

Wolfgang Puck's place in DTD is great! I had a pumpkin ravioli that melted in my mouth...tasty!

My wife and I have four WDW resorts that we happily visit just to eat at their restaurants :

-Ohanna's (Polynesian)

-Cape May Cafe (New England Clam Bake Buffet - Yacht and Beach Club)

-California Grill (expensive, but very romantic during MK Fireworks)
(Contemporary)

-Boma's (Great Buffet, especially if you are willing to try unfamiliar but delicious foods) (Animal Kingdom Lodge).

I liked Cantina San Angel (Epcot - Mexico) and Yorkshire County Fish (Epcot - UK), Flame Tree BBQ (AK). Keep an eye out for the meal deal coupons if you go to AK ... I believe they're $12-$13 for an adult.

The only counter service in the parks that I would consider a don't miss is the food court in The Land at Epcot. They have some healthier options that are a nice alternative to burgers.

I don't remember the name but the pastry shop in France is an absolute must stop on every trip!!!:teeth:

My vote is for Tusker House in AK. We did the meal deal and my husband and I had the Salmon with rice and fresh green beans. IT was delicious and a deal which is pretty rare at WDW.

Magic Kingdom-This is a toss-up: Me-Pinochio's Village Haus
DH-Casey's Corner (mostly hot dogs) DD- Pecos Bills

AK-Tusker House

MGM-Backlot Express

Epcot-Cantina San Angel or the counter service in UK (I don't know the name-great fish and chips)

Downtown-Wolfgang Puck Express

Gourmet Pantry in DTD's Marketplace - make yummy salads! I love the one with baby spinach, cheese and honey covered walnuts! Mouth watering lol

Thanks!

Sure :) The deal gives you a coupon for one entree + a drink, another coupon for a water bottle or pop and another coupon for an ice cream treat or box of popcorn. I believe its $13 for adults and $6 for children. Right now, they're only available at AK ... but I've been reading threads that they're going to be available soon at MK. I think they're a really good deal!
