Hiiii,

I'm starting some planning for our October trip and looking for recommendations.

I have never been to Disney so quite unsure on what things are considered 'a must'. Although I know it's all down to personal taste and experiences I would love to find out what some of you consider must do's on your holidays!

Also, I'm planning a surprise for my partners birthday (was considering a dessert party but have read mixed reviews) so if anyone has a good idea for this I'd love to hear it.

Mickeys not so scary Halloween event is great, you need to book some restaurants like 'Be our Guest' at 180 days out.

definitely all fireworks show are a must!

Yes will definitely be watching all the fireworks whilst we are there!

MNSSHP is one of the main reasons we booked for October, really excited for it!

I have a couple that I want to get ADRs for, so far only really Ohana and Be Our Guest are ones we really want to do. Looking for more recommendations too :)

I won't venture to tell you a must do as far as parties, restaurants or rides since our must dos most likely wouldn't be yours and vice versa. For example: we don't like BOG or any of the new FW shows since they now feature projections. If you don't get in just the right spot, they aren't going to be as good for you as the old fashioned fireworks shows. I would say a must do is not to try to over schedule your time and take the time to actually stop and enjoy the place and look around at the details. It's impossible to ride all the rides or see everything there is to see and do so attempting it is just setting oneself up for a tiring disappointing trip. Book FPs for what You think you might enjoy and then relax and enjoy the rest of your time there. Oh, by the way, we have been going for over 30 years and have never done a single party and have been there during party seasons many times. So obviously those aren't must dos for us. We did the MK dessert party when it first started and it was a one and done for us, no way could we eat that much sweets and the view for the FWs just wasn't that great that it made it worth the extra money. We do, however, almost always book some sort of tour or special experience. Our top favorites are the Wayanama (I misspelled that I know) safari at AKL, you get a special safari of the resorts savanna and a special meal at Jikos. Diving in the Living Seas (you have to be a certified diver for that one) and oddly enough the Behind the Seeds tour at Living with the Land in Epcot, it only costs $20 each and is great.

Yes I agree, it is all subjective! Interested to hear opinions anyway, I'm sure I'll form my own when I get there too.

Thank you for mentioning some of the experiences/tours you've done. Definitely will be looking into some of these as I would love to do a 'one off' type experience whilst I'm there

In October there is also food & wine at Epcot we really enjoyed some of the food option, just avoid the weekends to visit as these are the busiest days as the locals visit.
