One week away from vacation FINALLY! We've been to HH once, but this time we have more time and are looking for some "must do" things to break up sitting on the beach...suggestions?

This won't be a comprehensive list, but I would include:
* a visit into Sea Pines to go to Harbour Town and the South Beach areas (where you can purchase the requisite Salty Dog tee shirt), and maybe Lawton Stables;
* a visit to the Coligny shopping area
* the Tanger Outlets in Bluffton
* Old Town Bluffton is kind of fun
* maybe a visit to the natural museum on the Island that, I believe, is near Jarvis Park

Have fun! Hope you don't swelter!

We've done the Lawton Stables..pet the deer!
Heck I've done Disney at this time of year(105 degrees at Epcot with sneakers melting to the pavement) at least at HH we've got the ocean. Haven't gone to Coligny, so that's on the list for this trip.

What kind of things are you looking to do? Sighting things or active things?

On the active side there's kayaking, paddle boarding, zip lining, biking.

If we are there for a week we will usually take one day and head into Savannah and another day to go to the outlets, besides doing some of the things in the previous post to break up the days. You could also take a dolphin cruise or a ferry over to Daufuskie and walk around.

1.Try different restaurants.
2.Rent a bike and explore the whole island. Hilton head island have dedicated pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. You can even ride your bike along the beach.
3. Go to Savannah.

LOL! Oh, we're all about the restaurants! We've never rented bikes before, so I think we'll get them for the week and do some exploring.

What the best way to get to Savannah?

Relatives were at HHI beginning oh May, another "brand" timeshare. Had such a RELAXING vaca! Really enjoyed biking in the bike paths. We love to walk also. Are there walkers on the paths? Thanks!

I would add outing via DVC experiences during the week:

Pinckney Island
Marsh walk
Bird walk

The naturalist there is awesome.

We drove to Savannah when we went to HH. I'm not sure if there is a ferry that goes there. Savannah is an interesting city to explore. Also Beufort (haven't been there) is to the north of hh. Another historic town. It's also where some of the scenes were Forrest Gump was filmed.
The bike/jogging paths are bike and pedestrian friendly. One of the best paths in my opinion. There' s quite a number ofbike shop rentals in HH and they will deliver and pickup the bikes for you when your're done. It was a joy riding the bikes on the beach to explore and enjoy HH. Check out tripadvisor forums for other ideas. Best wishes to all.

Don't know if your still in HHI, but the Bluffton farmers market is tonight, and it is a great one. Go hungry. You can find it on google. You will need a car, as it is on the mainland. It starts at 2 this afternoon. Also, if you are into adventure type activities, zipline adventures is not too far, and is quite fun.

As far as bike rentals go, the member discount at the resort is pretty much the same price as off site rentals.

For things to do and restaurants to eat at, just check with Mike the pool guy in the morning at the rec area and he will not steer you wrong.

He sent us to the Old Oyster Co. and the LowCountry Backyard Restaurant for dinner, and we were not disappointed, (call ahead for reservations at Oyster or go early to both).

We went to Low Country Backyard last year and it was worth the wait. We actually got the best restaurant advice from the sales guy at the Coach Outlet store, LOL!

Thanks for the suggestions...we've got a good list :)

Like others have said, ask Mike at the pool for recommendations about dining and TJ (the naturalist) for great things to do. We went with TJ to Mitchelville's beach and had a great time. It is great for shelling at low tide. There are so many things to do, but we also love just sitting at the beach!
