So here I am thinking about the two week at the fort coming up in June. yah, yah… reminded my DS last night we are only 45 days from being at the fort, while he was brushing his teeth and he just smiled and did a happy dance… )

Now back to my original thought, are there any out of the way things you like to do at fort wilderness.

For instance, last time down we took a family walk from the canal on the back side of loop 300 around to the lake and up to the dock. It just gives you a different look and was enjoyable.

Maybe it’s the lawn mower tree..

walking the old railroad.

Just thinking we could share our cool things that make the fort special.. sharing the magic.

I love to get on the bike or the Golf cart and head to Trails End for coffee in the morning before anyone else is up. It is quiet; I bring my camera and usually get some very nice shots. It feels like you have the place to yourself!:hippie:

Feeding the squirrels and watching them show off their highwire act.
I honestly enjoyed just biking around. I covered all the loops at least 3 times and just saying hello. While doing this I managed to run into another couple from here in Meridian. Actually only lives about 5 miles from me.

We spent some time one trip on mapping the old railroad and looking for remnants of it, kind of like a scavenger hunt. It was fun and we now have some great trivia material.

We like getting a canoe and paddling around all the canals. They wind around enough to almost feel like you are getting lost. Some are narrow enough that turning around isn't an option. They also run right through some of the loops and it's interesting to check out the other campers from water level. My DS had a great time looking out for wild life. Mostly turtles and birds. He was sure we were going to run something over. And then I reminded him we were in Florida... Were alligators lived. :rotfl:
