Must-do dining/experiences for mom's first visit?

Hope you took thousands of pics and videos!! Would love to see some of them, if you're so inclined. What restaurant did your Mom like best?
Did you notice how many characters we met? We definitely got a lot of pictures 😆
I don't think she'd be okay with me sharing pictures that she's in, gotta respect that.
Restaurants: her favorite for food and ambiance was Carthay Circle, she said her steak was really great. Since that was pretty pricey, I'm glad she liked it.
But generally she's got simple tastes, that's probably why she loved the Monte Cristo so much.

What an awesome story! Thanks so much for coming back and updating us. Glad that all of your hard work and planning worked out.

Several years ago D23, posted a recipe for the Monte Cristo. I know they've changed the recipe over the years, but this is what I have in my file.

Ingredients
1 egg
1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons water
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
8 slices egg bread (challah works well), sliced 1/2-inch thick
8 thin slices ham
8 thin slices turkey
8 thin slices Swiss cheese
3 cups canola oil
Confectioners sugar
Blackberry preserves

Preparation
Line a cookie sheet with paper towels; set aside. Whisk the egg and water together in a mixing bowl. Add flour, salt, and baking powder and whisk thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth, scraping sides of bowl. On one slice of bread, arrange 2 slices of ham, turkey, and cheese, covering the bread evenly. Place another slice of bread on top and slice each sandwich in half diagonally.

Heat oil to between 365 degrees F and 375 degrees F in a 10-inch pan. Do not let the oil reach a higher temperature than this; if the oil starts to smoke, turn the heat down. Dip half of the sandwich into the batter, allowing excess to drain, and very carefully place into the oil. Repeat with the other sandwich half. Cook 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Place the cooked sandwich on the prepared cookie sheet in a warm oven until ready to serve. Repeat with the other three sandwiches.

Cook one at a time, and allow the oil to reach the desired temperature between each. Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve with blackberry preserves on the side.

Thank you so much for the trip report. I'm sure you and your mother had the most wonderful trip! As someone who grew up with Disneyland, I applaud your choices! Just makes me want to go back again. Yay!

Your report touched my heart so much. I lost my Mother in April. We have gone to disneyland with the whole family for years, probably 35 at least. Next week will be my first trip without my sweet Momma. I’m not sad about her not being with us instead I’m peaceful to be someplace where we enjoyed so much happiness together and i’m sure i’ll feel her with me but oh how I wish we would have done a mother daughter only trip together. Cherish your trip as i’m sure you will.

Thank you for sharing. Sweet Mommas are the best!

This write up completely warmed my heart. It sounds like you had an amazing time, I’m so glad for both of you! I was getting a little anxious to see whether mom would ever actually get to meet Clarabelle lol.
