Can anyone tell me what type of music it is that they play in Main ST?

I'm looking to put some of my photos into a slideshow for family and friends with a music background. I'm sure it's a ragtime track they use but I can't entirely remember. :confused3 :confused3

Does anyone know?

Une Journee has the Main St songs as follows:

1. My Oh My, What a Wonderful Day [Medley]
• Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Ray Gilbert / Allie Wrubel)
• When You Wish Upon A Star (Leigh Harline / Ned Washington)
• Bridge (Vasile Sirli)
2. Paddlin' Madeline Home
3. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

En Musique has them as follows:

1. All Around The World (Jay Smith / Vasile Sirli)
2. My Oh My, What a Wonderful Day [Medley]
• Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Ray Gilbert / Allie Wrubel)
• When You Wish Upon A Star (Leigh Harline / Ned Washington)
• Bridge (Vasile Sirli)
3. Paddlin' Madeline Home

It didn't actually sound like standard Disney tunes from what I recall - which surprised me to be honest. I fully expected Disney music in the parks.

I'll try to remember more later, but I know some of the non-Disney songs I've heard on Main Street a lot include:
"Kansas City" from the musical Oklahoma
"Wouldn't it be Loverly?" from My Fair Lady
"Easter Parade"

There's definitely ragtime-era music there too, but I can't remember off hand other specific songs. I think I have some written down somewhere, so I'll see what I've got. ::MinnieMo

I think the idea was more to give Main Street an atmosphere more in keeping with the decor rather than just playing strictly Disney tunes.

In a bizarre coincidence MouseWorld Radio is currently playing a 61 minute 'Area Music Loop' for Main St USA - this is for WDW in Fl but I wouldn't be surprised if it's very similar - lots of tunes, don't recognise most, except from Disneyland!

I think I know the one you mean... sort of a jazzy, ragtime tune? I'd hum it but you wouldn't hear it because of the internet and stuff. :p To my knowledge it is not on any CD, I think it's more ambience music!

Emma , I almost fell off my chair when I read that...........visions of you frantically humming at the computer screen!! Oh dear, must go and dish up tea, lack of food obviously affecting judgement!!!

Just found this while looking for the answer to Cyrano's tortuous Q12, hope it helps:
Just a word about the music you can hear while walking on Main Street, USA. It all comes from "Ragtime", the film by Milos Forman (1981), composed by Randy Newman, and distributed by Ariola / BMG.

Snap Kaye - I was just about to post the exact same thing!!!

Oh Di,

You seem to be doing so well at this quiz - I hope that means that for once I was looking in the right place! :magnify:

Well done Kaye! :cheer2:

I had a bit of a search on iTunes and I found out the name of one of the songs that plays in Main Street: "Atlantic City"! It's available to buy on iTunes if anyone is interested. It isn't, however, the one I was thinking of, hmm. I wonder if *all* the music is from Ragtime... Atlantic City certainly sounds in the same style as the one I have stuck in my head right now!!

Emma, it may be that tune it was also mentioned
-
You can hear "I could love a million girls" in the instrumental version and "Atlantic City".

I think I might have to volunteer at some point in the future - just to get my revenge! ;)

Ooh yes, if you listen to I Could Love A Million Girls and imagine it without the vocals, it does sound familiar!

Also, I am pretty sure that "Delmonico Polka" is another one they play. :)

Emma,

You have given me a serious case of the giggles - I now have a second vision of you humming furiously at the computer screen I could love a million girls and Delmonico polka :rotfl2:

So I would be correct if I backed my Main ST photos with 'something' ragtimey. It would at least give the same atmosphere.

There are times though, I wish we had some kind of webcam hookup so we could see what everyone's up to when they are 'boarding!' lol
