A little know fact is that there is a contractual limit on the number of attractions that can be open at Hollywood Studios at the same time. So, make your plans now that when Star Wars opens, Toy Story Mania, RNR, and Tower of Terror will all be taken down for a rehab.

Since it happened suddenly and is supposed to reopen in a few days then my guess is something just needs to be fixed.

Probably the case. WDWNT calls it a refurbishment but Disney says: "MuppetVision 3D is currently unavailable due to maintenance." There is a difference. They also say that the reopening date is an anticipated date, so it could change.

Maybe they took it down to see if anyone cares. If no one cares then they will extend Star Wars land to include a 3D movie of how George Lucas changed the Stars Wars story a hundred times in three prequels.

I read that a chef somehow was able to fire a cannon that caused an explosion in the theater blowing a hole in the movie screen resulting in bricks and sheetrock to also be heavily damaged. I am surprised it will be fixed so quickly.
Only a handful of days before I am actually there and I can verify for myself.

again, sounds like Grand Avenue construction. I wouldn't be surprised if the attraction doesn't open until Sept

She was still sticking to a re-opening timeline of Aug 2. They are definitely doing work on the gateway pillars closest to the theatre - looks like pumping in concrete.
