We are scaredy cats and don't ride roller coasters - but we love the mummy movies.

Can u describe the worst parts of this ride (speed, climbs, drops, etc.)??

The worst rides we ride are:
Thunder Mountain RR @ MK
Pirates of Caribbean

We don't ride: TOT, or anything like that!

If you are a scaredy cat then I wouldn't recommend this ride. Universal, unlike Disney, plays on those primordial fears. Are you scared of the dark? Heights? Insects? Evil spirits? Speed? The Unknown? Fire? Death?
The ride is a quiet coaster propelled by linear induction and electromagnetic levitation. The take off is through a wall of liquid nitrogen smoke up a 45 foot 25 degree ramp in 1.5 seconds. It twists, turns and falls 25 feet at a 50 degree angle which feels like a free fall. It even goes backwards down a steep drop away from thousands of roachlike scarabs then launches into your 45 MPH escape. Don't worry its over in less than 4 minutes. Wanna do it again? Not me!:scared1:

Not to mention all the things Imhotep does: kills two people, threatens you, sets fire to things, etc.

Is the ride jerky? My back can't take the "slamming around a corner" type jerks. I'm hoping since it's a newer construction it won't be as harsh as the older coasters.

I wouldn't describe it as jerky. It changes direction to reverse quickly but no whiplash. Seven near zero Gs.

My feeling is that if you can take Thunder Mountain, you'll be able to take the Mummy. Plus the Mummy is nowhere near as rough as TM, thanks to newer track technology. A much smoother ride.

But it does have that one sudden stop in the scarab room. That is pretty rough.

From one cat to another, it was scarey! probably the worst part for me was how fast it was and the drop, but I ended up riding it 3 times in a row to break my fear. have you been on space mtn? just a little worse than that (or I should say better!) BTW, I don't ride TOT either, but I do ride the RnR. :earsgirl:

High Speed Roller Coaster.

You won't flip upside down, but you will be flipping out. :p

And the worst stops are in the scarab room and the fake unload.

Is it on par with Space Mountain but less jerky? Comparable to RnRollercoaster? I know I will be fine but am just wondering about DS7. The fear factor he can handle but he doesn't do TOT because of the drop.

how big are the drops? is it like 50 feet? I wont even rid eJurassic Park bec. of it!
i rode splash mount. years ago and it was terrible! that drop - my stomach dropped for a longgg time!:earseek:

More intense and not as jerky as Space Mountain. Less intense than RnR.

The biggest drop is 25 ft at a 50 degree angle, which makes it intense, but fun!

I dont like the idea of putting my cash, park hopper passes, etc. inside
of a locker to ride the mummy...

Fit as much as you can in your pockets. Also, small hip packs are allowed, so you can put all your small stuff in there as well.

All other carry-on items: backpacks, purses, cameras, video cameras, squeeze bottles (fans), souviner cups, stuffed animals, etc, MUST go in the lockers.

Also, the lockers use your fingerprint for identification. That way, only YOU can get into your locker. Just don't do what some have done: find an open locker and put your stuff in it without going to a rental point first.

Thanks for the info re: lockers.

I have:

digital camera (TINY) nikon coolpix 4200 (new one that's out)
video camera (small)

and
a
Small Flattish fanny pack on waist....

is this ok?? thanks:wave:

You won't be able to carry the cameras unless they are all small enough to fit in the fanny pack. Even then, I would worry about them getting damaged. I would suggest you put them in the locker or not bring then that day to the parks. About the only thing small enough you can carry in your pockets would be a wallet and a cellphone. If your cameras are too big for your pockets or too big for the fannypack, you can't carry them on.

It's also worth mentioning that this ride has rather tight restraints, so if you have a waist pack or whatever, it would have to be on your side. Unless you don't mind not being able to breathe. :p Also, anything breakable inside of it would.... break.

Easy!

Go to any rental station (avoid the ones closest to the attraction). Touch the screen and follow the instructions (choose language, rent locker, press continue at the fees page). Then put your finger on the scanner. Many people jam their finger or thumb on the scanner and end up getting poor scans. The best way is to use your index finger, keep it straight & flat, and gently place your finger on the scanner. You'll have to scan your finger twice so it can be stored in the memory. You will then be assigned a locker. Remember your locker number and which finger you used.

When you return, go to the same rental station you first went to. Follow onscreen instructions, then again, gently place your finger on the scanner. When people jam their finger on it, "Bad Scan" becomes very common.
