Mummy reopening

Rode last night during HHN. Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned.

Track was smoother. The Imhotep animatronic in the control room seems better. But on our ride through the Imhotep animatronic was missing from the beginning. There was the wrapped up mummy with the baseball hat telling you to get out, but then there was just the sarcophagus with video projection on it for his face when he spoke at the start (the illusion of the sarcophagus coming to life with a face and talking in Imhotep’s voice). I have no idea if this is the way it will be going forward, or if this is a kind of back up version that gets used when the animatronic gets glitchy, but it was disappointing not to have the animatronic.

We spoke with a TM while waiting for the opening “scaremony” who said Mummy was supposed to be open for July 4th weekend. He said that in one of the test runs just before they put any people on, two cars nearly collided and derailed, so they had to completely reprogram the tracks. So apparently the delay has not just been about glitchy special effects, but fixing safety concerns as well.

Seems it’s been mostly running the last two days. We rode yesterday twice in 45 minutes with a posted wait time of 50 minutes.

Though we’ve noticed that it’s not always open, and closes before the end of HHN. After not being able ride on Friday, we made sure to ride in the first hour of HHN on Saturday to make sure we didn’t miss it. Lines are fairly low at the start of HHN when everyone is flocking to houses.

ETA - here tonight Sunday 9/11 and Mummy is closed. Glad we got in a ride last night. Fingers crossed maybe it opens later in the evening.

Last night Mummy was showing “closed,” but did open later. Said 20 minutes when got into line, and wait time jumped to 50 after we were in line. Waited about 20.

Express line was showing closed on the outside when we went in, but then some people went through that entrance, so maybe EP is open during HHN?

Still no mummy animatronic in the beginning. I asked a ride attendant about it, and she confirmed that is their B mode when it’s glitchy. She also said she didn’t realize it was “already” in that mode, so I’m not sure how long the animatronic usually stays functional. So we were happy to get in two rides for our trip, but bummed not to see the animatronic because that was the thing we were most looking forward to. Won’t be back until next summer, and hope it will work then. Still a great ride!

We were passing at 10.55 this morning when it just happened to open. We got lucky!

Walked in amongst the first of folks to be let in, rode it and off in just under 15 minutes including fighting for access to the lockers.

Ride is a little smoother but the graphics are excellent now and most of the components are all working.

Still classed as in “Technical Rehearsal” so you could get in line and don’t get to ride it if they have issues.

It was good to ride it again though.

How has the Mummy been this weekend? I'm pretty bummed that it's spotty opening during the day and doesn't have EP.

So good to see animatronic Imhotep in the beginning part now also! It may have been back for awhile but last few times we rode it, it was just a projection. Guess that’s why it’s still ‘technical rehearsal’.
