multiple rooms, free dining, & tickets ??

Looking forward to the possible free dining promotion and I am the official planner for my group. I have a complicated question. I am booking at the AKL. One room for my family and a seperate room for my mother. We are also going with a family of six. My mother has agreed to let one of their kids sleep in her room if I can get a room for 5 of them. (Hopefully, deluxe rooms will be included with the free dining promotion.) My mother wants a 5 day base ticket so obviously with the package the child of the other family will have to get a 5 day base tickets also. Here's my question:
Can the family change the child base ticket to a hopper once we arrive or does it have to stay a base ticket due to package requirements of everyone having the same ticket in the same room?
I can't imagine that Disney will turn down extra $$ to upgrade a ticket.

Yes, you can upgrade only one ticket at the parks guest services. Perhaps at the resorts but I am not sure?

Yes you can and you can do it at the resort.
