Multiple reservations at Oga's?

Yesterday was so frustrating. I can handle watching the Millennium Falcon for minutes on end as the page clocks and I can handle the system showing that there are no ADRs available, but it's maddening when it shows ADRs available, but it's too overwhelmed for you to be able to book the time slot you've clicked. I must have clicked over 40+ time slots yesterday to try and book an ADR just to have the Ooops/Lady and the Tramp message come up and that time slot disappear. After a couple of hours of this, there was eventually nothing. **And I'm sure I'm not the only one this happened to, but it feels good to type it all out to vent :D Thankfully, I was able to get some ADRs with what they opened up this morning. I have one with my friend, after we run the 5k...and another for just me on my last day. Sooooo...now just waiting on things with the Space Restaurant...I know, totally different subject. LOL

I guessing a lot of ADRs were canceled when it became clearer that this is a bar. Not a restaurant. I’m so excited to try it! Hoping I can get the “breakfast” beverage menu the 10:30 time. I have another for evening another day.

I don't mind having a drink (or two) at 9:50 am on vacation but the breakfast drink menu is only two drinks, one of which is a bloody mary and the other a coffee drink (a mimosa or champs drink would have been good to add). I'll still be there, also have a lunch ressie, but would have easily ordered off the lunch drink menu at 10 am.

That is a little disappointing but I will still be there, just because I can :) LOL

I agree. I love a good bloody mary, but there definitely should be more breakfast drink options.

Figured we might as well check it out. I found a dinner one this morning, then kept changing it so it wouldnt conflict with Fantasmic. So now stopping in at 925pm for a nightcap, then the new show. Can't say this is something I would have bothered booking without the frenzy behind it. But, hey, why miss out? Seems like a bunch getting dumped. I have to say, not super clear you are not booking a meal with this. Going to be a lot of ticked off people.

I had called in to book a tour and the CM said so many people are cancelling Oga’s since they realized it wasn’t a restaurant. At least they won’t be getting a bad surprise when they show up for their ADR.

Haven't yet seen anyone saying based on any kind of actual authority that a reservation at Oga's will guarantee you entry into Galaxy's Edge if it's at capacity.

and yes, they're trying to use the current ADR system to apply to entrance to a bar, so there are a lot of persons thinking that the place must serve meals. A little research would give them the whole story. At least the menus are up on the site now, so they can see that there are no meals available.

So yes, you are going exactly when I will be there and I couldn't get 2 for Oga's. I'm curious if you added all 4 of your party to your ADR's? Which would be 12 spaces "held" and only using 4?

I swear I'm not out to get you, I'm just addressing what you wrote and keeping things honest. It's unrealistic to expect people to NOT be upset when the see people posting about their ADR hoarding, especially if it's the same time they're going and can't get ADR's. I've seen it many times over the years I've been here.

This is my 30th wedding anniversary trip, so I completely understand trying to make it a special trip. I'm sure a lot of people have a special trip coming up also.

I wasn't going to respond to this because I don't want to derail the thread, but since you felt the need to "keep things honest", I felt a bit compelled to do the same. And I hate feeling like I need to justify myself to strangers, but my neuroses sometimes get the better of me :confused3

1) I have seen exactly one post suggesting one ADR per person - otherwise the "curiosity" seems to be focused on folks who have secured multiple reservations but will release some....and not at those who are grabbing multiple reservations with the intent to use them all. I would expect that some of the upset would be directed at those folks who are grabbing multiple chances to get into the land while others may not get in at all. In particular, mine. Why are my reservations so much more upsetting than the folks who have two, three or more entry times lined up for themselves? I don't begrudge anyone who will get to visit the land more than once over their trip compared to my single opportunity. I don't begrudge those who can afford VIP tours that will provide them better opportunities than I have.

2) I'd love it if this trip were just to celebrate a happy event, or a getaway where we had multiple opportunities to visit the parks during the trip. It's not. If you read my PTR, and are passing judgement based on that, know that (as with many things on the internet), what you see online is only the tip of the iceberg, and only what I have chosen to share - it helps to have a reminder online of the silver linings that I can go back to and refocus on. I truly believe that most people have a very special reason for their trips/things they want to accomplish for very special and important-to-them reasons. And hopefully as we firm up our plans for OUR important-to-us day, what we send back to the system goes to THOSE people who want special plans too - and not someone who decided to pop into the land for the fourth time on their trip.

I really want that coffee drink! You are right - sparkling wine would be a nice & appropriate addition to the morning menu.

It is interesting to read about all the reservations getting dumped because people thought it was a table service restaurant. This obviously shows you that axing the table service spot to get open quicker was not a super smart idea. Maybe they will come back and add it in, like the new one coming to TSL.

Same here. I'm there on December 5th, wanted breakfast because I plan on getting there as early as they're open since RotR opens that day. (The full day of my trip coincided with RotR opening, which is serendipity, or madness depending upon how you look at it, LOL!)

Since I'm not drinking alcohol for breakfast, I wanted to try another day in the evening so that I can sample an adult beverage. Plus I'm sure I'm going to want to go through GE again to see what I may have missed the first time through!

Yeah there were people all over online posting about how excited they were able to nab breakfast, lunch, and dinner reservations. Then they checked the menu :rotfl:

I did multiple too, because mine loaded in about 3 minutes and I couldn't get hold of my husband to see when he wanted to go. I dropped the extra after talking to him & picking the day & time. That's basically what I always do when booking ADR's. :confused3 We're going for "dinner" even though it looks like there isn't going to be much food, haha. But that's ok because we'll be coming from the Food & Wine festival so I expect we won't want any more food, we're just going to try a couple of drinks and check it out.

I was surprised to see breakfast as an option haha! I was like, wait isn't this a bar?? But I guess they have various coffees that probably look cool.

The website says lunch starts at 10:05 so you might not be able to get the breakfast drinks by 10:30.

After trying all day yesterday and not having a single slot for a 19 night visit available they have magically appeared and I was able to book one.
We don't drink alcohol but the non-alcoholic drinks sounds great. I just hope there is some seating in there for our kids.

Ok, first off - the Cantina holds 200-250 people at once. So even "holding" 12 spaces over the course of a day where all patrons are limited to 45 minutes in the restaurant barely even registers in terms of availability.

If there was really an issue with "ADR hoarding" as you call it, then WDW would put limitations on the number of ADRs an individual can make at a given establishment. The poster you are calling into question is playing well within the rules that WDW has established for booking dining. That's really all that matters - not whether or not you feel it's right.

Many people have had success using TP's reservation finder. Plus others reported that there appeared to be more availability released today. It's possibly WDW is releasing them slowly into the system.

Ehhhh no. People rushed to book 'the hot new thing' and didn't realize they were booking a bar spot instead of a restaurant and are dumping their ADR's in droves. That has been reported pretty much everywhere.

It's probably not so much the ADR hoarding, as the need to humble brag about it on a forum on a day that people couldn't even access the site that rubbed some the wrong way. No amount of justification will make that easier to swallow.
