Multiple Home Resorts???

there is not a minimum. what the poster presumably means is that you only get the HRP for THOSE 60-80 pts, which may not be enough for their purposes even with banking and borrowing.

sorry to sound stupid - but I don't really understand?? :confused3Are they meaning that 60-80 points might not be enough for the length of stay/type of accomodation they want, or do they mean something else by HRP??

(I'm only asking as I have a split contract of 100 points at BLT and 100 points at AKV - I wasn't aware of any HRP disadvantages by having smaller contracts - or have I missed something?? - I am new to all this, so just wondered if there is something else I don't understand, which generally seems to happen to me!!:goodvibes)

The HRP is simply the ability to book those points at 11 months versus 7 months. There are no other "perks" of owning at one resort over another. (Maintenace fees vary from resort to resort, but I wouldn't characterize that as a perk.)

There's also no minimum number of points for HRP, other than you must have enough home resort points (current + banked + borrowed) to cover the full reservation. If you were able to find an SSR add-on contract for 4 points, you could bank & borrow and book a single night in a studio during adventure season with the same HRP as someone with a 1,000 point SSR contract. Of course, they'd be able to book a longer stay or bigger room at 11 months, whereas you would not.

(I'm just using this as an extreme example. You're not going to find any 4 point contracts out there.)

I think what the OP meant was that a contract that's too small won't give you enough points for the vacation you want even with maximum banking and borrowing of those home resort points.

oh good - thank you for explaining:thumbsup2:thumbsup2, I was worried I had misunderstood something, and having just sent back my third re-written contract I didn't want to have to change it again if there had been something else I had missed!!:lmao:

The problem with only buying 60 or 80 points is you do not get home resort privliges.

No, this is not correct. If those 80 points are at BLT you will always have home resort priorty at BLT. And if you use banking/borrowing you will have home resort priority for 160 or 240 points.

That may be what WDW Enabler was trying to convey, and goodness knows I don't always manage to say what I mean either, but what they stated was incorrect. It has nothing to do with home resort priority - all it has to do with is the number of points purchased which is what this thread in essence is dealing with.

Also, even 80 points at BLT will get home priority for 1 week in a studio every other year in Adventure and Choice seasons in all views using banking and borrowing. 80 may sound insignificant, but that's where banking and borrowing allow someone to own at more than one resort and have the home resort priority booking.

Also, take into account that the point chart may change from time to time...so don't cut yourself so short that you won't have enough points to take your vacations, even with the banking/borrowing.

thanks Kathy for clarifying - I must admit I got worried back there for a second!!:goodvibes
