We have a contract at AKV (560) and are considering buying more points at Grand Californian and/or BCV (160).

Can we book at a DVC resort and use both pools of points?

Thanks!

If you purchase the add-on directly from Disney, it will have the same use year and will be under the same member number. However, you can not pool the points at 11 months, you must wait until the 7 month booking window to pool the points. During the 11 month window only the points from each resort has home resort booking privileges, so you could use your AKV points at AKV and your other points at their respective resort. At 7 months, points are points, no matter at which resort they are owned.

If you buy your add-on resale, and you buy the same use year, you can request that DVC put them under the same membership number, be sure to request this before the resale actually closes, but the 11/7 window still applies.

If you do not buy the same use year, or have different membership numbers, you would need to use your once per year transfer to combine the contracts to use them together at 7 months.

Thank you so much. This helps a lot! We'll be buying directly from Disney and will probably buy at Grand Californian.
So, if we want to make a reservation at the Grand Californian at the 11 month window, but don't have enough points for the length of stay we want, we'll have to wait until the 7 month window to add on the extra days using our AKL points?

That's kind of a bummer.

Yes, you'll need to wait to extend the reservatin at 7 months - or you could borrow Cali points from your ext use year. That strategy would work if you were to go to Disneyland every other year or so. But since you live in the bay area, you'll probably visit Disneyland more often.

We usually go to DL at least twice, if not three times a year. I guess we'll have to save our pennies to make sure we get enough GCV pts and/or take our luck with the 7 month booking window.

I talked to our DVC CM yesterday and she told me to expect GCV points to be much more than $104 per pt.
