With all events there are problems etc. but Although I saw alot of our Board members at this Mule Ball alot were missing...what are your suggestions as to helping make this event go smoother, be better and attended by more!

This event was super but I would like every Ball to get Bigger and better and to be enjoyed by more people.

What are your ideas?

Well i have an idea, not quite sure how it will be recieved. Some of you may know that I have a very large maze that I have created. It roams through over twenty rooms and most of them are very comfortable to sit or play in (except the central hubs). They are also all closed off from publc access when I need them to be. I would be willing to forgo the maze in lieu of allowing the group to use it for the parties should they become to big for one room. We cant have group members waiting in line to get into the room now can we. LOL

Do people like the multi-day nature of the Huge Mule Ball?

I got kind of scared off, knowing that there was no way I could be around for even a fraction of the event, so I just stopped by once and said hi to a few people.

Personally, and this is just speaking for *myself*, I might have been more inclined to participate if it were for a more limited time -- like over the course of 6 hours on a single day, just because I wouldn't feel like "Well, why bother going, because I'm going to miss most of it anyway." That's just me, though.

Incidentally, here's something that might be useful for future DIS VMK events: I've set up a teleporter lobby off of the DIS Central Lobby (a boat), which now goes to a "Special DIS Rooms" room. The idea was originally to link to, for examples, rooms that were selected as "Best Guest Room" or popular hangouts, or, in this case, teleporters to the main room of a Mule Ball! Something to keep in mind for the future.

is to accommodate more people, we did have scheduled events happening on each of the three days and alot of improptu games.

We just thought that would better suit the needs of more players sorry that scared you off...we did miss you.

DaffyPluto

We have plenty of rooms already at our disposal but thanks for the offer.
Having one person own all the rooms makes it hard to monitor the rooms for the occasional bad seed so to speak.

I think with the event spread over the weekend, there were certainly more people able to participate, however the number of people on at any given time was small unless there was an event.

An idea for next time maybe would be to have someone hosting "lounge hours" in a room. Not a game, but at least a host to talk to if no one else is there. Also there could be a "guessing" room with hours towards the end of the event - where people who have not been unmasked can be asked questions to get people to figure out who they are.

I am a "structure" person, so for me, if I know there is something happening I will make more of an effort to be there. So, more pre-announced events (even if it is just a lounge), and less impromptu events, would get someone like me out more.

Linking in to the Dis Lobby is a great idea - then it is much easier for people to get into the "main" room when there is not a host there. I like the idea of the Special Dis Lobby for use during events or special functions.

The event is still a work in progress, so we can always make improvements or try different things.

Please keep it spread over the weekend, it gave me a chance to take part in some games, funnily enough, most of the impromptu ones!

I wasn't at the ball because I'm out of town. So I'm a bit limited as to when I can play online this week. :)

I'll try to make it to the next one tho!

I'm basically dittoing here... I like that the event was spread out- it gave those of us with other things to do the flexability to attend what we could- I think not having much scheduled on Sunday kept some of the numbers down- if not much happening- then why be there? But those that did Find a Mule games as fillers and other things really did help to boost in some of the slower times. I know had the event just been one time- I may not have been there and missed out on all of it- the way it was I was able to say "well I can make that and that- so I'll wait and get on the compter at that time"

I really like the idea of a "lounge" even if it moves from time to time or if linked then anyone can be the "host" and it doesn't give too much to any one person for the event.

Also linking to the DIS lobby is great- I suppose I should get into the teleporter network too- lol this weekend I had just finished the maze and people couldn't get in because I suppose the Nightmarebefore Christmas rooms "host" must have gotten disconnected- luckily I was able to go back by way of teleporter and set mckeysgal to babysit the room- still need to change her signature from the message about how to access the maze.

BTW- we probably need to put pics or something in the hub room for the events so that we can tell visitors which teleporter is which... since I know that was sometimes a problem for some. I know we had some dis members who'd show up at doorways to enter an event and for some it took a while to find the room.

I knew I wasn't going to participate so I didn't pay attention to the schedule of events. I can't comment on that peice of it. I did happen upon some of the games and hang outs just by noticing where various Dis people were on my friends list.

But for me, the reason I did not participate is that I don't have a mule. I am barely able to keep up with my main character. I don't have the opportunity to log in every day and just get my credits. So to have to do that with multiple characters just doesn't work for me. Maybe it wasn't well attended because not everyone has mules?

With that said, I will be creating a mule later this week because I will be in Disneyland and want to get Mickey ears and a born in park badge. Plus it will help me get some extra costumes. But I doubt I will use the mule much, probably won't even get daily credits.

I loved this event and felt slightly guilty because I spent all weekend enjoying it instead of hosting a game or doing something else.

I really enjoyed how there was a clear time for the game rooms, the mazes and even the 'find me' games. I was able to participate or at least look in on most of the different activities. Those that hosted games and were in your rooms for hours on end .. you are my heros! I'm not sure I could do that.
Plus, I am just not creative enough to create a game.

However, I really like the idea that someone had about "Lounge Hours" where we could play the 'who are you' guesssing game. I would be happy to host that and keep people on track, and even hand out the prizes so the real mule doesn't have to give themself away if they don't want to. (Of course you would have to trust me with your secret identity .. muahaha)

All in all, it was a great event. Far more fun and successfull than any that I have attended that were sponsored by VMK. :cool1:

If you need a volunteer to do something for the next event, please let me know. I would be happy to help out in any way.

You must have miss it but You do not have to have a MULE to attend the MULE ball fact is Maltoo was there just as much if not more than HalloweenSal my Halloween Mule.

So please do not let the fact that you do not have a Mule stop you from attending any "MuleBall"

I popped in and out of the Mule Ball. I had friends who kept making me go do stuff with them, so I couldn't hang out much at the Mule Ball. I'm going to start thinking of some type of game or contest for the next Mule Ball, then I'm gonna make sure no one knows I'm in my room, lock my doors, turn off the lights, and go to the Mule Ball.

I think the "Lounge Hours" for guessing who is who is a great idea. This is one of my favorite parts of the ball, and I didn't have the opportunity to do that much since there weren't that many mules in at any given time, so set hours for that, even if it were more than once throughout the event like the games, would be great! I also think this would help folks have more opportunities to get those secret phrases. I love that game and plan to get it in gear next time and have a secret phrase myself. Thanks again to all who work on this event. It is a lot of fun! :)

Okay this is how I see might make it better. I was real excited about the mule ball. I missed the last one. But quickly became confused because there were too many responses on a thread that became outdated. I did not read all of it to notice the saying had changed.

I dutifully printed out the list. However forgot it at work. When I went back to find the list it was buried in the 2nd page. But at the time I did not notice that the saying had changed,it must have been farther down the post or maybe another one. So here I was in the game trying to use the old sayings and seeing they were not working coming up with descriptions of the sayings. Though It did make it challenging. I like Canadian bacon became I like the pig stuff you fry.

I had no clue that the sayings had changed but realized people were saying stuff that was not on my list. So I would suggest even if you have to keep bumping it up make sure the up todate list is front and centre for everyone to find. I guess after this frustration I got a little discouraged and just poped in and out.

Also the thread should read key points for mule ball.

1. Where: Nightmare before Christmas Dis Room (a few of us had no clue where to start)
2. Key saying to remember (maybe with a note updated as of Ocotber 21.7:00pm (that way if others wanted to they could still join the list
3. Key events on Friday
4. Key Events on Saturday
5. Key events on Sunday.

That way we can print it out or have one spot to go and check. The big problem was that the information was getting loss in the numerous threads. The last thing you want to do while you are at the mule ball is try and find the saying or what is going on. So a quick altogther note would be great.

I am in no way putting down this event. I think you and all the dis people who organized, freely gave of there time and the many prizes they gave out, should receive a huge round of applause. Especially workerBea who made a little boy so happy with a spacesuit. That was so generous !!! And a big thank you tp Mal for giving so freely of your time. I only wrote this because you asked. But since I went through one dis mule ball I know kinda what to look for. So even though I was a little lost I do really appreciate all you did and gave for this event.

Thanks again

Yes, I agree. I had a hard time figuring out what was supposed to go on at a given time. My schedule was quite hectic over the wkend so I only got to pop in on VMK a little bit. I had a blast the few times I was on though! And everyone did a great job (Mal, Lab Girl thanks for those fun Find Me games and the maze). Now if any of you can figure out how to clone *me* as easily as we can make clones (i.e. mules) of our virtual selves, I could have made it to a lot more of the events over the wkend!

I was only able to get on VMK on Sunday, so I was glad it was spread out over a few days. I enjoyed myself, even though I stink at mazes and the hide & seek games. A few times I was in the right room but couldn't find the person to say the phrase to. I have noticed this also when playing along with my kids you can sometimes enter the same room they are in, but be in a different room then they are in, even though it is the same named room. Does that make sense?

I was in line for the VMK games and never made it, either getting disconnected or they closed the room before I made it. So those are pretty much a waste of time.

I'm liking the scavenger hunt idea and I just enjoy meeting up and chatting with others and gifting stuff.

So there's my 2 cents.
Thanks for all your hard work and time to help our mules come out to play!

I missed the ball because of the dumb crashing!I made a mule just for the cause!

Some games I would like

1:tic talk toe
2:an unmasking contest(who can go the longest without getting unmasked)

Hope to go to the next!!

Yes, I did miss this fact. I didn't read any of the Mule Ball threads until this one because I knew I didn't have a mule. That didn't stop me from playing some of the games when I found them, but I didn't know all of the events that were taking place.

I'll know better for the next ball.

Oh, and the scavenger hunt idea sounds fun. I especially like the photo scavenger hunt mostly because I used to play those with my youth group. But the cost of film in VMK is outrageous so I don't think that would work.
