Whispering Canyon or Roundup Rodeo

So my kids can't decide between whispering canyon and roundup rodeo on our hollywood studios day. We originally planned to have dinner at whispering canyon but this requires going from HS to Wilderness Lodge and the coming back for Fantasmic but now they are talking about how it might be tight to have dinner at 6 and come back in time for Fantasmic at 9. Would dinner at 6 give us enough time to take the bus back to hollywood studios and still get good seating for Fantasmic or should we try and do it earlier. We have Savi's at 4:05 so would not leave the park before 4:30.

Is the drop in food quality from WC to RR worth not having to run around? Thank you in advance for your help.

I haven't eaten at either place, but I have question. Would having to get to WL make you rush through Savi's? I'm reading to plan about a half-hour for your visit, and then you'd have to get out to the bus loop, wait for the bus to WL, etc. In general, I usually plan at least an hour to get from "inside" a park to the next destination.
Is Fantasmic AT 9, or is that when you want to be in line? If the show is at 9, I think it'd be a lot of stressful running around to go from HS to WL and back again, as you'd want to be in line by... 8:15?... for good seating. Are you going to enjoy yourself at WCC if you have one eye on your watch the whole time, worrying about being seated late or bus slow-downs, or one of the dozens of things that can throw a monkey wrench into a plan?

I know me, I know how stressed I'd be about this. I'd stay in HS and do the Roundup, I think.

I agree with @leebee. You could probably do it, but it's going to be stressful and you may not get to fully enjoy dinner at Whispering Canyon. And, you won't have time to explore the WL, which is a beautiful resort. I'd do Rodeo Round up and maybe try to get to Whispering Canyon another night??? You might have enough time to make it to the WL and back to DHS, but I don't think you will get the best seats for Fantasmic. If you just happen to miss a bus connection and have to wait, it may cut things really short. If you are seated right at 6pm, it might take 15 minutes to be served, than an hour to eat and enjoy the meal, that would put you at the bus stop at WL around 7:30ish, if a bus comes right away, you could be back at DHS by 8pm if the bus doesn't make any other stops. So, in line for Fantasmic around 8:15pm. But that is the best case scenario. If you have to wait 20 minutes for the bus, which is entirely possible at that time of day, then you would get to DHS around 8:25 and in line for Fantasmic at 8:40, so near the back of the line. I think you'd still get in, but seats will be much more limited. Rodeo Roundup would be easier.

Prior to opening your post, based on just the title, I came in ready to say "WHISPERING CANYON, hands down!!!" BUT, based on the details, I'd stay in the park. I don't like rushing. If you'd have a full day at HS before, maybeeeee it's worth it as a break, but it will be tight. Theoretically it should be enough time, but staying in the park would just be overall easier.

Thanks Everyone! I think the running around is not worth it. My daughter also said that we have done Whispering Canyon in the past so Roundup Rodeo would be something new. I just hear some not so great stuff about the food at Roundup and the Whispering Canyon milk shakes are always on my mind! LOL.

It will be a stressful time. If Fantasmic is at 9, and not 10:30 then you need to be back to queue up by 8 PM. If you are willing to switch to an Uber / Lyft / Minnie Van then you can do it with ease.

I would suggest you just stick with RR and have a leisure evening at HS. Whispering Canyon can be great but it is very filling if you are having the All-You-Care Signature Skillets, and it does take time with refills of the Skillets.

Definitely stick with RR. We actually really enjoyed the food (we didn’t plant- seed option so YMMV). The whole place was cute—loud—but cute, even for adults. I’m one who gets stressed having to bounce from ADRs back to parks. The only way I’d do WC is if I took a ride share to/from WC back to HS.

It’s not good food but it is a good theme to a restaurant. Personally I would save the money and eat at a QS vs ever eating at roundup rodeo ever again.

I've never eaten at Roundup Rodeo but have eaten at Whispering Canyon quite a bit as we stay at Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge more than anywhere else. It's pretty good and the servers' schtick is fun. But it's definitely not worth the hassle of getting back and forth from HS. Either eat in HS, or hit up one of the restaurants at the Crescent Lake resorts - most of which I'd rank higher than Whispering Canyon.

We ate at Roundup for the first time in March and it was a home run for all four of us! I would go back in a heartbeat. Stay at HS, don’t be rushed, and hopefully you will have a good experience as we did.

I love WC but would eat at RR any day if given the choice. For an AYCTE the food quality is above par....some salads and sides are actually just worth the price of admission themselves Definitely stay there and eat RR. Nothing worse in Disney than eating at a restaurant far away from where you have to be in a short time. You won't enjoy it..

To me whispering canyon is the perfect thing to do when you have a free day with some down time. I like to go around and take in the resort before or after eating and I really enough food. That said I wouldn’t leave the park to go eat there unless the schedule is something where the break from the park is desired not a drawback.

We ate at both last week and have eaten at Whispering Canyon countless times and Rodeo Roundup a few times. My wife and I disagree. She prefers Rodeo Roundup and I would rather Whispering Canyon.
