We are going to stay at two resorts consecutively this summer. Can we use the same mugs at both resorts, or would we be required to buy two whole sets?

Also, does anybody know if the Swan and Dolphin participate in the refillable mugs?

Thanks!

This is certainly a can of worms here :goodvibes. I personally would not buy double of the same mug in the same stay, though some will tell you that you must. I suggest asking a manager or other cm at your second resort if your conscience is worrying you. My guess is they won't ask you to double purchase the mugs.

It's no conscience issue, and this is really different from the "can I bring back a mug from 1987" question.

I understand that now the mugs have a chip in them that activates the drink fountain and that the chip is coded to the length of your stay. My question is whether Disney considers two consecutive stays at Disney resorts to be one trip or two. By consecutive, I mean moving from one Disney resort to another on the same day, for a total trip of about ten days.

Im not sure if the mug scanning is activated at all resorts to be honest? But i know that i did a split stay last year and used one set of mugs at both resorts. I was told that the mug you purchase is good for the length of your stay, ONE TRIP, (not just at one particular resort). I wouldnt buy another set of mugs.

Enjoy your trip.

same as PP. The mugs are for the length of stay and no the swan and dolphin do not use this scheme. I think at the moment they are only trialing the micro chip in the all star resorts but could be wrong on that one.:)

I don't think there will be a definitive answer which is why I suggest asking when you're there. I don't think there's a chip yet is there?

If you are doing the DDP at both resorts, you should get a mug at each resort.

The Swalphin does it's own mug thing.

I'm using my WDW mug right at this very moment. The exact wording on the mug is this....
'refills available at no additional charge at resort beverage islands located in the resort that this mug was purchased through the end of your resort stay'

As of today none of the Resort Quick Service locations have the mugs which are sold with the RFID chips and those were being tested just at All Star Sports, in fact I am not sure if those specifc mugs are still being sold at their Quick Service location.

Also the key word here is test because there is no guarantee that WDW will make all the other Resort Quick Service locations start selling the RFID chip mugs. Just because they were testing them out does not mean they will become a permanent thing.

Thanks for the helpful replies, everyone! How is it that I've been on these boards for a while now and never heard the term "Swalphin"?!?! That's too funny!
