Mug Question

I have not been to WDW since 2009 but we will be back this June I am finding out that MANY things have changed. I have a questions regarding the rapid refill mugs. We have a split stay and are only using the dining plan the first 2 nights. We will be there an additional 6 nights without the plan.

* How long is a dining plan mug good for? I did read they are good for "days" and not 24 hours.

* Can I pay additional to make it good for the length of stay, and if so anyone know how much?

The mugs purchased with the dining plan are good for "length of stay." Disney programmed "length of stay" to be 14 days.
