Muddy Buddy-couple of questions

For those of you that have done this event- Is this event also perfectly acceptible to enter just for fun and to finish and I saw pictures from last year of some people with medals, do all finishers get them or just the t-shirt and medals are for the top finishers?

Also any impressions of the event you would like to share would be appreciated.

Great question. My son and I have been looking at the Muddy Buddy, but there is nothing out yet for 2007.

Hopefully someone will come through with the answer for you/us.

I know at least 1 person who has posts here that did it in 2006. Unfortunately I don't recall his name I had asked last year after it was completed who had done it and how it was. it sounds very interesting. From the photos it looks like it's a fun event for most. The crazy outfits or headgear (I recall seeing someone with birds on their heads in the photos LOL)

Hopefully the person who did it last year will catch this shortly. But if you haven't already check out the kids races as they go thru the mud LMBO I did last year and was cracking up over their expressions

And if you find yourself doing this in 2007 please be sure to post. It sounds neat and perhaps someday there will be enough time in our schedules I do recall that you run and ride on different terrain as in grass, dirt and super fine dirt. So if you do this you will need to train on different things beyond the paved trail or streets. Plus the obscales.

I think that was Chester (rKyDex) that did it last year. I really want to do the Muddy Buddy too, but not as a serious race. Unfortunately, it's right after the Minnie...have a hard time justifying two trips so close together.

I have not done the Orlando (Disney) Muddy Buddy but have completed the Chicago event. The race is as serious as you want it to be. There will be serious teams that do triathlons and/or adventure races to 2 family members just there for the fun of it.

As DianeL indicated, some people dress up for the occasion. Costumes and silliness only adds to the experience. There was something humbling however when the runner in the grass skirt passed me at the end.

There were no finisher medals in Chicago, but that is not to say that Disney may do something special for the participants at their event.

If you decide to do the race, plan on getting very dirty.
