It is pretty tame, Wayde from the Miami Heat was a presenter with Jessica Alba. He said he was the big dog from Maimi when Jessica Alba asked him who he was, then Shaq walked out and said, "No, he was the big Dog." Shaq gave him a big hug. Wayde is from Wisconsin, he played for Marquette, in Milwaukee WI.

Jessica and Ashley Simpson were presenters. Ashley looked really classy and Jessica looked like her clothes stopped in the back, you could see her bra straps and girdle straps. like old women used to wear to hold up their underwear.

Diddy is funny, but predictable.

Anyone else watching.

I probably know more songs than I thought, probably because we have Satellite radio and we usually listen to the top 20.

I've been watching. It does seem tamer than some years. I have to say R.Kelly's performance, weird. I understand he was doing the last "chapter" of his songs but it seemed like he had multiple personalities.

I'm watching. So far, the most shocking moment for me was when GreenDay got through an entire acceptance speech without bad mouthing the Bush Administration.

I think that Sean Combs is okay, but I MUCH prefer the comdians. I admit that I was very excited to see MC Hammer!

I've never actually heard songs by some of these new bands are performing, but I am pretty surprised. Bands like The Killers and My Chemical Romanace sound very familiar. I've heard that music before in the 1980s. Only then, it was The Smiths, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen and bands like that, and they did it much better!

I guess there is officially no new music to perform?

How many pans of Usher and Stacey Fergeson have we seen so far.

Not bad so far, but it is dragging a bit. Shakira was kind of boring, but who cares. The Killers were good. Glad to see MTV getting rid of the grainy cameras they used for the last 2 or 3 years.

i am watching so far i think it stinks
the mc hammer thing is cool
diidy stinks they should have had chris rock again
the killers were ok i hate when thye out bands outsiide like that
i was also hoping they would sing what they sang at live aid

this thing on right now with fat joe is sooo lame

Not liking it so far, except for Green Day at the beginning. Then again, I'm old...

Cold Play is on now, about time. I don't think he is lip cynicing.

R Kelly's thing was just to wierd.

I'm trying to watch. Diddy is not a good host. Jimmy Fallon was much better. It's become a little too "rap" for me. Liked when BJ from Green Day said, "Glad rock still has a place at MTV." Barely.

I was going to comment on that, but I didn't want to start a debate, maybe the pendalum will swing back in a few years.

Highlgiht so far was Kelly Clarkson ducking under the fountains to get her award.

Start the debate!!!!! MTV shows nothing but hip-hop anymore, if they show any videos at all. It's like they completely decided to ignore an entire culture of music that still exists and is more popular now than before!!!

but then, MTV is usually behind the times.....

I'm watching it too. I listen to all types of music, but I have to say that 80% of the performers are rap/hip hop artists (nothing against them at all), but would be nice to have more varied performances. I don't really care for Diddy as host...
R. Kelley was weird...
I agree it was cool that MC Hammer came on though!

yes, nothing against hip-hop, i like some, but to completely lump everything else into "rock video".....ugh.....i'm sorry, it really bites my butt!!!

When I turned it on 50cent was on stage and I heard more silence than rapping since they had to bleep every 4 out of 5 words. Why even put him on the air :confused3
