MS told me no more Epcot View Requests At BCV

It was my understanding that the mountains that were "planned" for Canada were going to be pretty big....... :earseek:

Seems to me it might be a good idea to stop taking room location requests....if they're getting too many to accomodate them and having too many problems with members who throw a fit at not getting a request. I mean, smoking/non-smoking/handicapped/non-handicapped need to be available but other than that, I think it might be nice to really have luck of the draw on room locations.

Seems to me that you almost have to request a nicer location to have any chance of getting one anymore....I've been trying the no requests route and seem to get the same rooms over and over. It would be nice to get an upper floor or some sort of view for a change.

Anyway, seems a good way to deal with fit throwing members or guests would be to make all room assignments outside of real needs like S/NS/H/NH luck of the draw.

Interesting fodder for the rumor mill though....the stuff about Epcot and Illuminations. I've been thinking they need to change Illuminations again...I think it would be fun just to have the old one back again.

I guess the rumor that China was going to construct the Great Wall really was true.

Oh my, now we will have to ask for the Mountain View. That will be a first for Florida, :)

I'm a bit confused by the whole "Epcot view" request, anyways.

When we checked in this past December, we had requested an Epcot view and the CM mentioned they didn't have one but they did have a garden view. We were fine with that and went to our room.

We look out our balcony and, what do we see, but Spaceship Earth, The Land, and some of Canada.

We were a bit confused. Isn't that, technically, an Epcot view? We weren't upset at all. The view was great. But why is that not considered an Epcot view? Is an Epcot view one that has a direct view of Illuminations?

That is funny! I just hope it doesn't block the view of the road.

If that is their logic, then I believe it is incredibly short-sighted. Better to be able to meet SOME requests rather than none.

If requests really are becoming a problem, I'd much rather see DVC address the issue between the Member Clubhouse mailer, weekly member meetings, etc. I'd rather see them give folks a reality check over the ability to meet requests rather than just ending the practice altogether.

I think this is terrible. Requests are only requests after all. And not taking requests beforehand is not going to stop people from throwing fits or getting mad at the person checking them in. People will still hold out hope of getting an Epcot view at check-in.

Bad decision DVC.....

Agreed. Discussions on this board show there are a lot of people who decidedly don't want Epcot views! And others (such as Terry S and myself) who love it and think it is an important part of the BCV experience. What is to be gained by assigning these people randomly?

I think they should take requests, and if someone is so boorish as to complain heatedly about not getting what they asked for, they should be told to "shove it -- it was only a request". (In my dreams!)

And then we'd have something else to talk about! :rolleyes1

did anyone ask what views can be requested?

maybe a swamp view would do it.

Or I agreed a roads view. problem is they make me a parking lot view (also a roads view in the back) and I don't like swimming pool views myself....

I think they are redoing SpaceShip Earth - but I think everything is inside not outside.

Does this mean that BCV will not let anyone stay in these rooms??? that doesn't make sense either.

CRO is also telling this to people on the resort board who are renting BCV - so it is not a member only thing.

Looks like BCV's afraid of having a Boardwalk View situation happen to them. Still, it makes no sense that you can't request an Epcot view. For me, I would really only care about having Spaceship Earth in view... and I can't believe they would obstruct that.

Of course after my last BCV stay, my only request would be clean room, and a bathroom with NO HAIR already in it!!! :rotfl:
This got me thinking... how after our last stay at BWV, I no longer care about non-smoking or non-handicapped or whatever floor or view. I just want a room that doesn't have an ant infestation. (Background: first, we were clean and had no open food anywhere in the room. There was just an inexplicable infestation of about 50 or so red/brown ants and some of them apparently crawled into our bed when we were asleep and stung our hands at night, which led to the investigation for what creature stung us, and finding a line of them crawling along the back wall of the room... plus the oozing, burning, itching bites that didn't go away until days after we came home.)

I feel ridiculous requesting something like that, but really it's all I care about at this point. A smoking, handicapped, dumpster-view room that is clean and ant-free will be fine, thank you. Of course, apparently it's Florida so we're supposed to just expect ants in our room... and DVC can't guarantee any requests anyway.

Sorry for the OT rant.
