MS Borrowed points question

I think I have this right, but just need to be sure. There was another thread, but it had the opposite issue.

We are hoping to add a night at BLT in August. There are 38 points left. We are thinking of doing the add-on that MS offers to get the last 14 needed points.

Tomorrow, the in-laws are supposed to cancel two studio nights at BWV--14 points each. The 7 month window to use those opens next Sunday.

So, next Sunday can I call and use the 14 points BWV points and have those applied to the reservation and bank the 14 points we buy from MS into 2011?

The UY is Oct. so the cancelled studio points are out of the banking period. All of these points belong to the in-laws and I'm an assoc member so have reservation privileges. If I do not have banking privs. my MIL can call next week to sort out the res. That's not the question.

The question is can I apply the BWV points to the BLT reservation once I hit 7 months and bank the points I buy from MS. Thanks.

One time use points purchased from DVC are completely non-bankable, non-cancellable, non-transferrable.

Not sure I completely understand all of your post but you definitely cannot purchase one time use points from DVC and then bank them.

Once your in laws cancel their rooms, those points will go back in to their account and will be immediately available for booking. I am not sure what you mean by the 7 month window opens up on them next Sunday.

But, if you buy the points, they will have to be used in that UY.

For the cancelled BWV points, I can't make my BLT reservation with them until next week--which will be the 7 month opening.

The one time use points are only available at 7 months, too.

Also the banking deadline for an Oct UY is May 31st so if the points from the cancelled BWV reservation are from the 2010 UY there is still plenty of time to bank them.

Got it--I missed that you were booking at BLT! And of course, now that I read it with that piece of information, your post makes sense!!!

Just to be sure, are you saying that the BLT points and the BWV points are all from the same membership (your in-laws, not yours)? Because you can't combine points from two different memberships for one night without transferring. Also, what do you mean by "The UY is Oct. so the cancelled studio points are out of the banking period" ? If the UY is Oct., you shouldn't need to bank at all.

I thought the booking window had passed (I don't have to pay attention to that, they do). I was wrong. So, I can use some of the returned points. What I don't use, they can bank.

Now, I just wait until Tuesday and hope that the villa I want is still available.

I will also be trying to change two nights of our August trip on Monday from BLT to a BW view room at BWV. I know my chances are slim but I hope we both get what we want!!!

But if your 7 month is Monday and mine is Tuesday, I may continue to be in luck. Don't remember what you reserve though, if it's one or two bedrooms.

And I know it's blasphemous, but we could even stay in a hotel offsite that first night (gasp!).
