Mrs. Jackson's Multicultural Lit Class Eats Around the World 2009

001.jpg

The food and wine festival was a very cultural and diverse experience. It allows you to eat food from all different types of countries from around the world and learn about the background behind it. I chose to eat in the China section of the park. I bought the orange chicken which came with a side of white rice for $8.49. I felt like I got a lot for what I paid and the quality of the food was good. It was very tasty and I would highly recommend eating in the Chinese Pavilion.

On my trip to the Epcot I was able to have the experience to try different foods from around the world. On one of my stops I was able to drop by Cape Town, Africa. At a cheap price of $4.50 I had a very delightful Seared Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Puree and Mango Barbeque Sauce. Though the Sweet Potato Puree was a little distasteful, the Seared Beef Tenderloin was extravagant. I recommend that everyone that visits Epcot should try this dish.

All together these 4 delicious items came out to be $30. I found each one to be very tasty and well worth the price for the food. The items included: casserole burgundian es cargots baked in parsley and garlic butter. $9.75
the famous ham and cheese quiche served with a mixed green salad
puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce
lobster bisque (the last three items of food were a $20 special)
These foods were from the restraunt French du la Chefs in the french section of the attraction. All together it was a great time and well worth the time, money, and travel.

This is arroz con pollo, or rice with chicken. It is found at the booth of Puerto Rico and it costs $3.50. I found this to be very good and I wished the portions were bigger. The spices are amazing and I recomend this dish to everyone.

This dish is from the Japanese booth, and it is called Japanese shaved ice. The flavor I bought was strawberry but there were three other flavors as well. I found that is extremely similar to a snow cone. It was very good due to the heat. It costs $3.75. I think it was well worth its value and should be bought by everyone to cool themselves down.

This was Creme Brulee au Chocolat au Lait. It is a creamy chocolate custard. I liked the inside but it was covered in a crunchy fried sugar topping which I didn't like. The inside tasted like very creamy chocolate pudding. It costed $3.50, and was from the booth of France. I thought it was very sweet and if you like chocolate, then a must try. I think it was well worth its value.

I went to Australia and ordered the Grilled Lamb Chop with Red Wine Sauce and Murray River Sea Salt. It cost me $5.50 and was scrumptious! It was very tender and the sauce was great.

I hiked all the way to China, and ate at Lotus Blossum, let’s just say this was no smorgasbord. I spent $8.49 on a hefty meal of Orange Chicken with steamed rice. I thought it was quite a palatable meal, which fulfilled my hunger. The orange flavoring had just the right kick to make this dish sensational.

Thank you for reading,
Hayle!!!

I went to Chefs De France, i ate Crepe Basquaise, it was a large crepe filled with smoked chicken strips, pepers and onions, grilled and served with a mixed salad, it cost $12.75. It was extremely delicious , I enjoyed it a lot! It was a very good value for the price because it was so big and yummy! The restaurant was very nice and had great service and all their food looked great, you should definitely eat here!

This is the Chicken platter from the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. The cost was $11.95 and contained thin slices of chicken topped with pink onions, a half loaf of bread with dipping sauce, hummus, spinach, and wild rice that was left cold. I enjoyed this meal very much and it was worth the amount I paid for it. I recommend this to be the first stop on anyone's trip to the world showcase in Epcot.

This is the fishermen's pie from the Ireland booth. It cost $5.50 and contains bits of lobster, scallops, cheddar cheese, and some potato. It was served hot and was very delicious. I would recommend people to eat this, but not for the price they have it at.

EpcotandNHS030.jpg

This is mango lassi from New Delhi, India. The cost was $2.75. It is a drink that contains mangoes and yogurt blended together to make the perfect 'shake'. This was probably the best item out there but then again, it is something I am used to having almost everyday of my life. But do go out and try this because it is definitely worth the price.

My first stop at the Food and Wine Festival was the Athens Greece Boothe. I ordered a Spanakopita which is a pastry kind of thing with a cheesy spinich inside. It cost $ 4.00, I thought it was a little pricey, but its definatley worth a try. -Victoria

tuna sensation 5.75. Tokyo, Japan. It was filled with avocados and raw tuna. I was not expecting it to be raw so i was a little dissapointed. It was okay but not worth the money.

Tostados de pollo 4.00. I thought this dish tasted awesome with the salsa sauce and good because i had never tried it before. It was well worth the money.

I had a Napoleon from Boulangerie Patisserie, which is a pastry made of several layers of puff pastry alternating with a sweet filling, usually pastry cream and glazed with icing or powdered sugar. It is a light, flavorful dessert which I highly recommend to anyone visiting the park! You can get it for a mere 3.95 in the France Pavilion of the park and you will be happy you did! Overall the Food and Wine festival is unique, diverse, and fun multicultural event that you should definitely check out if you have the opportunity.

My next stop was at the Buenos Aires boothe. I ordered a Beef Empanada which is another pastry thing with a beef, and spicy inside and comes with a side of salsa. This cost $ 4.25, it was very delicious and worth a try.
argentina2.jpg

I also went to the Tokyo Japan boothe and ordered a California Roll which is a sushi roll that has rice and seaweed covering crab meat and cucumber. It costs $ 3.50 but you can purchase a Cali roll at practically any Japaniese resturaunt so its nothing rare. I liked it though.

Tostados de pollo 4.00.
SANY0326.jpg

This was in Mexico. It was very delicious. If I could eat it in every day and in every way, I would. I loved the meat. I have an unusual obsession with sour cream. So if you like sour cream, this is the meal for you. The onions were so perfect and tasty. The tomatoes had its unique flavor. It was just a perfect moment. I felt on top of the world when eating this meal.

SANY0319.jpg

Chicken And Andouille Gumbo 3.00

This was very southern tasting. It had some spice to it. If you do not like spicy food this is not for you. I could not finish it because it simply was not my style. It was tasty, but too much flavor for me.

DINA, 5TH PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I went to the kiosk at Mexico and tried the pork tostado. It consisted of shredded pork, black beans, sour cream, cheese, onions, and tomatoes on top of a fried tortilla. It cost $4.00 and i thought it was well worth it. The pork was juicy and the combination of it over the crunchy bottom was good.

IMG_8304.jpg

Next, I went to Beaches and Cream at the Beaches Resort and had the Strawberry Shortcake. It cost $5.99 and was definitely worth it. The proportion was huge and the strawberry sauce was sweet and tangy.

I also had the Chocolate Croissant at the breakfast restaurant in The Land. It was pretty good and tasted just like the one at Panara. It was not worth $3.99 though because it was small.

First, I went to Athens, Greece and tried the Chicken Souvlaki. It was basically a piece of pita bread with chicken and some kind of white dressing on top of it. The dressing tasted somewhat like caesar and it was amazing! The name of the restaurant was called FW Greece. The price of this sample was 4 dollars, so it wasn't too bad at all. I would totally recommend it to anyone who goes to this event next year!

The second thing I went to was the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. I thought it was really expensive. It cost 11.45 for the meal, which is just ridiculous. But it was good. It came with really thinned out chicken, with some kind of dip for it. Then, there was pita bread with some hummus, which was pretty good, it wasn't anything new though. There was some green leafy side. It kinda tasted like it had some kind of spice in it, like cilantro or parsley. It was really different which i loved. Then some cold rice which was good also. This was called the Chicken Platter. I would recommend it if you want to try something new.

creme brulee dessert 3.00

I got this dessert from Paris, France. It was really delicious. It resembles chocolate pudding. The top of it is like a fried sugar. If your a sweet tooth I highly recommend this dessert.

Japanese Shaved Ice 3.75
SANY0320.jpg

If you like exotic flavors, this is a wonder. It was very hot and it blended it perfectly with the whether. It cooled me down. It was worth its price.

Rice Pancake with Shrimp 4.00
SANY0304.jpg

I got this from a booth in China. This was very good. It came with a very spicy sauce. I liked it better with the sauce. It added flavor. This was my favorite dish.

JESSICA, 1ST PERIOD

My food was from Wellington, New Zealand.

I got the seared sea scallop with vegetable slaw and lemon oil.
wellingtonnewzealand.jpg

The scallops were cold, but the slaw was cool and refreshing.
The slaw consisted of red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, red onions, some herbs, and lemon oil.
The scallops were seared to a nice crisp and all of the components accentuated each other nicely. There was also a nice balance of temperatures and textures.
At first I thought it was a little pricey at $4 for just one scallop, but the scallop was big and they filled up my plate with the slaw. In the end I really enjoyed this dish and really recommend it if you like seafood.

I went to the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China. I ate a shrimp fried rice and eggroll plate. The plate consisted of white rice with carrot, peas, and shrimp. It also came with a beef eggroll. The price was $8.75. This plate wasn't as good as i thought it would be. It didn't taste like real chinese food, but i was hungry so i guess it was ok. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone although it was a decent price because they gave you a lot of food. bye =]

Chicken Coconut Soup With Mushrooms, Lemongrass, and Ginger. 4.00

I got this from Thailand. It was very hot outside. This soup came very hot. This was not a good combination. But I still liked the soup alot and I wish I had more of it. It was a light soup, not too creamy. Well worth its price.

SANY0307.jpg

Seared Barramundi with Blistered Cherry Tomatoes, Arugula, and Lemon Oil. 4.25

This was from Australia. I did not like this dish. I'm not really a seafood person. I let my two friends try it and they loved it. So it really depends on your tastes and preferences. It also has too much oil. It was worth its price and was a high class dish.

SANY0309.jpg

Cannelloni 3.75

By all means this was my favorite dish. I loved all of the flavors in it. It reminded me of a baked ziti. It was also a good price. It was very cheesy and hard to cut ( if sharing). I still loved it. This should be the first thing that someone orders in Italy.
