Ah the wonders of Disney. Being that Epcot is one of my favorite of Disney's theme parks, I embraced the opportunity to be a part of the field trip, making sure I was one of the first to turn in my money and forms, solidifying my place on the trip's roster. Coincidentally, I am also a devoted and highly self-acclaimed food critic. And for giving me the chance to partake in 2 of my favorite activities in a single day, as well as missing a day of school, I thank you Mrs. Jackson.
And now, the food, but no wine.
It occured to me, as I entered the park, that I was slightly limited when it came to my ability to purchase food, as I had not yet recieved my paycheck for the week. However, I was determined to seek out the item I love most; chinese food. This search literally drove me all over the world. I ignored the cheddar soup in Canada, said no to sushi in Japan, passed over the array of desserts in France, and scoffed at German sausages and strudels. Now, some items were harder to ignore than others: Lamb in Australia, chicken in Morocco, and whatever it was that smelled so darn good in Mexico. But alas, I was able to control myself as I was on a budget and had a serious craving for the orient. And then, just as I was about to run to Africa for a taste from home, I stumbled upon the Lotus Blossom Cafe in Shanghai. As I walked in, sometime around 11:06 am, I immediately noticed that there was not much on the menu to choose from. Little did I know, that what I did find there would change my world forever.
The following is a detailed description of that dish: perfectly cooked golden brown nugget-sized chunks of chicken, crunchy on the outside with a tender all white meat inside, engulfed in a sweet, yet tangy orange sauce; not too overbearing, but with enough flavor to last a lifetime. All this sitting atop a steaming pile of beautiful white rice with a host of delectable sauces to enhance the already perfect meal. Add a large Sprite to wash it all down and now you're talking baby. Granted, good food like this doesnt come cheap, (I had to shell out a whopping 8 dollars and 49 cents for the meal and 2 dollars and 39 cents for my drink). But hey, it's Disney, and the food is good. Prepared by some of China's finest, I give this meal 2 thumbs up and would recommend it, and the festival as a whole, to any one of my friends, family, or associates.
