Mrs. Darling's June 2010 Accidental PTR: Pirates and Harry Potter 6/30 TR Link posted

It was a great day! Super hot (the high in Anaheim was 108 that day:eek:) Going across that finish line was an emotional experience I will never forget. I couldn't believe I actually did it. It was fabulous and something I would definitely do again! Oh the memories:goodvibes

So you're the one who caused the extreme cold this past January at the marathon!!! :lmao: Severely hot weather in LA to severely cold weather in FL. Too funny! The race looked like a lot of fun. As long as I continue to work for a CPA firm, I'll never be allowed to take-off to go out to DL for their half-marathon. :(

I do wonder about my weather luck at Disney races:confused3 Since the 1st one was too hot, and the 2nd one was too cold that means the 3rd one should be just right. That's the story I'm going with for January:goodvibes:

I sure hope so! Otherwise I'm blaming you... ;)

Great pictures of your Disneyland race!!:thumbsup2

And...that's so exciting that your whole family is heading back to Disney to race!! That's definitely something I will be looking into for our family in the future! It sounds like soooo much fun!:)

If the weather if awful again I'll blame myself as well. It will be like I have a Disney weather race curse!

It will be lots of fun. Mostly I'm excited about our pictures with the characters and on Main Street where we are all wearing our medals. My picture obsession is crazy sometimes;)

I am impressed with your marathon running! I love the castle medals! They are so cute! Hopefully, you will have great weather for your next marathon.

Thank you! It's really not as impressive as it sounds. I'm really slow and it's only a half marathon. Now in January when I run the full marathon I give you permission to be impressed:rolleyes: And those castle medals are great. I think they may be the coolest medals out there. Though the Mickey Medal from the full maraton is pretty cool!

Love the race pics especially the one of you both crossing the finish line holding hands.
That was my big idea. A little cheesy, but I have a nice DH so he went along with it:goodvibes

Life has been a bit busy around here with a couple of birthdays, spring break, Easter and yesterday was Baseball Opening Day so we went down to watch the Nationals get trounced. At least we saw the President throw out the 1st pitch so it wasn't all bad:rolleyes:

So on to our plans for Day 4:cool1:

We'll eat breakfast in the room this day and plan to be out to the Magic Kingdom bus stop by 8:15. That should get us to my favorite place in time for rope drop. I just love Magic Kingdom rope drop. Such a perfect way to start a Magic Kingdom Day:goodvibes

After rope drop we will join in the Dumbo Dash! Michael is still young enough that this is a must. After getting our Dumbo on we'll do the rest of Fantasyland and then head over to Frontierland. Depending on the lines we will decide how to use fastpass and if we ride Splash or not. We will definitely ride Big Thunder, but it may be we get a fastpass at this point and do Splash now. Or vice versa. Or if both lines are super line we'll skip Splash and just get the Big Thunder fastpasses. All of these choices. Then I'm thinking the Magic Carpets and Pirates. By this time it should be getting close to lunchtime so we'll zip on over and pick up Buzz fastpasses and then head to our lunch at Crystal Palace. We've done breakfast here, but never lunch. Hope it's good.
After lunch we'll head to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz and the TTA. The boys aren't quite ready for Space Mountain and I don't think we'll have time for Carousel of Progress so this is probably all we'll do in Tomorrowland. By this point it should be getting close to our Pirate League time:cool1: This is one of the things I'm most excited about for this trip. I think this will be so much fun. All three of us are going to get our Pirate on pirate: Here are the costumes I have for the boys

pins009.jpg

These were $8 each so I was pretty excited about that. Hopefully I've timed this so that after we've been initiated as Pirates we can watch Captain Jack's Tutorial and if we're really lucky the boys will get picked. I need to do some more research to figure out how to increase their odds. Anyone have any experience with this?

After Captain Jack is done we'll just play it by ear. This will be pretty late afternoon and I'm sure the park will be pretty crowded. We'll use any fastpasses we collected earlier in the day and if the boys want to ride any short line attractions we'll do that. We'll either get dinner at a CS at the park (my favorite is Columbia Harbor House) or we'll head back to the resort and eat at the CS place there. Though I hear the options there are pretty limited.

For the evening I'm thinking just a relaxing dip in the pool. I'm hoping there is a movie playing. We don't have plans too early on Day 5 so we can stay up a bit later.

So that is the current plan. Give me all your thoughts, comments, suggestions and critiques:goodvibes

Sounds like a fun filled day out at MK :thumbsup2

The boys costumes look great, you guys are gonna have so much fun :goodvibes

I think you have a great MK day plan.:yay: You have a good strategy for the rides.:thumbsup2 Your pirate costumes are so cute! I'm not sure if getting picked for the tutorial is anything like getting picked for the Star Wars Jedi Training. (They do the selection differently now) but before the rumor was, they picked kids who were very enthusiastic and wearing bright colors. I am not sure if that is true. :confused3 I love Columbia Harbor House! We always eat upstairs. It is a relaxing place to eat. :goodvibes

Not have time for Carousel of Progress???:scared1: We love this one!! Just kidding! Your plan looks great. I love the pirate costumes.

We've had lunch at Crystal Palace and loved it. Very relaxing on a hot day.

We too like Columbia Harbor House. DH has requested that we go back to this CS.

I will hold you to it! :goodvibes Otherwise you'll see me glaring at you from my corral and pointing at you "This is allllllll your fault!" while my pointing finger freezes over into a cube of ice like it almost did this past January. :teeth:

Good MK plan. I went to DL for my first time back in '07. It wasn't all that long after the Nemo subs opened. I did Nemo first thing one morning. The next day I went to Fantasyland while - to my surprise - everyone else went to Nemo. I was the only person in Fantasyland and the only person on Dumbo. Despite not having ridden WDW's Dumbo since I was 5 yrs old, I knew there wasn't any chance that I could have this experience at WDW... and it was a cool experience - having all of Fantasyland to myself for a few minutes.

Cute pirate's costumes. Good luck to your boys getting picked!

We did the Jedi Training last summer and I had the boys all decked out in bright colors, waving lightsabers and the whole bit. It worked for us. I'm hoping that with them being dressed up as pirates that might help for the Pirate Tutorial. But I guess we shall see. And we'll definitely eat upstairs if we go to Columbia Harbor House. It is so much quieter.

Kind of crazy that we might skip Carousel of Progress this year.;) I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Crystal Palace. I'm sure by lunchtime we will be ready for air conditioning!

Last time we went to Disneyland (Sept. 2007) the Nemo subs had just reopened. We were there at rope drop as well and were headed to ride the Matterhorn. So we went with the crowd of people over towards Nemo and then cut off to go to the Matterhorn. The CM standing right there actually questioned where we were going because it was so unusual for someone to leave the Nemo crowd:laughing: We were the only ones on that first Matterhorn train. I was very thankful for the Subs that day even though we never even tried to ride them;) But Fantasyland all to yourself! That is amazing:worship:

Your plans look great!!:thumbsup2

I agree....MK at rope drop is a perfect way to start the day!!:cloud9:

I'm kind of happy we can skip the Dumbo Dash this year as the boys are getting older. We've done it the last few trips.......and although I love Dumbo...boy that line gets long fast! We may try it on MK night to see if the crowds let up some.:confused3

YAY! for the Pirate League!! The costumes are soooo cute!!

Columbia Harbor House...yum!! That's my favorite too!!;)

Sounds like it's going to be a wonderful day!:goodvibes

I was kind of hoping we could skip the Dumbo Dash this year as well. Last year we did 2 mornings at Magic Kingdom so we went over to Big Thunder at rope drop and walked right on one of those mornings. It was great! I wish we could do that again, but I'm sure it won't be very long before we can. I guess I should enjoy these last connections to little kids because all of my kids are definitely heading towards the big kid stage:confused3

Ok Liz! Don't keep me hanging! What plans are brewing in that head of yourspopcorn::

LOL!! Actually nothing is brewing as far as Harry Potter...I still don't plan to go in June, it's just seeing the preview videos and pictures, and as we get closer, the temptation is increasing.

There is potentially a change but it won't touch my time at OKW and meeting up with you that Mon/Tues/Wed. :) That is for sure!

Glad to hear your OKW time is still intact! Someday I might get to those days on this report! When I do you'll have to chime in with your ideas:)

I think you're smart for waiting to see HP. It is going to insanity for those first few weeks in June I'm sure. I'm hoping that the FOTL passes we have will prevent us from spending too many hours in line:confused3
