I've been hearing about this potato head Disney thing for weeks now. Something about you buy the potato head, and then you get to stuff him with as much stuff as you can. Is there a store in the Disney area that does this? Which store is it? Or is it another store that does this, because I heard someone mention there is a store in NYC, but I don't live up there. Can you buy a potato head from them, or do you have to buy one ahead of time (like one from toysrus). How much does this cost? If anyone has any info on this I would greatly appreciate it.

We did this last July for my nephew. Its in the Toy store (don't know the name) in DTD. You get a box and put the potato head in it and then you stuff the box and potato head with as much Mr Potato Head parts as you can fit into it and still be able to close the box and you pay only a certain cost ( forget how much) but this was so much fun and cute. There is really cute parts to choose from. You can make your potato head look like mickey mouse or goofy and etc.

theres also one in M.G.M (that is if it is still there)
not sure where though

They have the same thing with My Little Pony. You can get a pony and stuff the box with pony furniture and accessories. The cost is around $18.

When we were at WDW last week, we saw the Mr. Potato Head displays in several different stores around the parks. My DS built one at MGM. There are really cute and different things offered to go with Mr. Potato Head, like a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, a guitar, a bridal veil or top hat, Hercules sandels, etc. It was very cute, but I wouldn't let my DS buy the set. I think it cost like $18, and he had more fun trying the different options out than settling on one set of things. I think you are required to buy the actual potato head itself and then you are allowed to fill the rest of the box with as much stuff as you can.

Have some of you bought the my little ponies or potato heads beforehand? Or is it easier to just get it at the store. Does anyone know the name of the places to get the my little pony or potato head items?

The store is called Once Upon A Toy Store in DTD. You stuff a box with as much stuff as you can and as long as it closes it is yours for $18. The pieces are really cute and you can only get them at WDW and I think at The World of Disney Store in NYC. We bought the Mr. Potato Head at Target before our trip for $5 and then forgot to pack him for our trip. We didn't want to buy another head so our little one didn't get to really play with the pieces until we got home. So if you go the route of buying the head ahead of time I recommend packing it so they can play with it.

Also if you have a My Little Pony fan they have the same deal in the back of Once Upon A Toy Store. Stuff the box with as much pony stuff for $18. My DD8 and DD16months love playing with this stuff. HTH! Have fun!!

Sorry for being an airhead but what is DTD, is it Down Town Disney. How would you get there if you are staying on Disney grounds, with no rental car. This is going to be our first trip so I'm just learning. Thank you for the little pony mention, my daughter's love that. We have tons of ponies, maybe I could take two with us like you said, and get a potato for our son for them to fill up.

aanthony03, since you are staying on Disney grounds, there are buses that will take you to DTD (Down Town Disney).

Have a great trip. :Pinkbounc

we did this at Disneyland. If you don't buy the head ahead of time make sure you fill the inside up as well before you put it in the box that is allowed. And also put smaller hats inside of each other to save room in the box. We were lucky there was a CM there that got every piece inside of the box. More like amazing there were 40 pieces total 41 including the head. By the way by the time he finished with ours there was a line waiting for him to politely do theres. Great value for the money with all the pieces you get.

We bought a standard Mr. Potato head at target ($4.99) Then at Disney we only bought parts that we couldn't buy anywhere else. You can fit a lot into the box without the potato in there.

DN insists that if you shake it well, you can get twice as much stuff in....put the big stuff like shoes in the empty potato head first, then eyes, nose, etc. then shake the head, fill up the empty space. Then, put the head in the box, and fill, fill, fill..then shake and fill some more. He ended up with enough parts for about 6 complete Mr. Potato Heads, including accessories and Mickey Bars!

DTD's toy store has a build Mr. Potato head. You can 1st design him on the computer and make a print out. Mousegears at Epcot has a Mr. Potato station too, but I didn't see the computer there.

So if I have a my little pony or Mr. Potatoe Head already, do you still pay $18 for the box to fill with accessories? If so, we'll just pack her one of thousands of her little ponies (ok I'm being sarcastic, just feels that way when I'm cleaning them up off the floor) :p

My suggestion is to buy MPH at a store like Target or WalMart and just do the pieces. My DS did this with her DD and said that that is the best way since MPH will take up a lot of room and you can get more pieces. She got an autograph book, pen, Tea Cup, Buzz Light Year part, Mickey Ice Cream bar, ticket and a bunch of other stuff.

Ooh, I'm really looking forward to getting a box of Mr Potato Head pieces. I have a Mr Potato Head which I got half price but the only pieces we have are those which came with him and the novelty has worn off. he could come back into his own with new pieces. If I get one body and then pieces for both Mr & Mrs PH we could have a pair, I'm sure he'd love company:-)

This toy is available at many locations at Walt Disney World, including Mouse Gears in Epcot, County Bounty in Mickey's Toon Town Fair at Magic Kingdom, some resort gift shops, and Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney. Hope this helps!
