Mr. and Mrs. Weak Sauce Go the Distance (a completed Disneymoon TR!)

I didn't mean almost done, I meant like finding a good book with lots of chapters. I finished up at midnight. You cracked me up with your comments on your awareness of Disney busses.. I was a firm believer in them, yet we had a rental car this past April and we never set foot in a bus.

Is school out yet, in WI the kids have a week and a half yet. Our parochial schools are done.

Oh, got ya! There will be plenty more chapters for you to read! And an April 2012 TR and a December 2012 TR and then a June 2013 TR!

No, we still have two weeks left. Graduation day is June 14th, and we leave for Disney on June 15th! Woohoo! We end earlier than public schools here.

Time to Be Scared, One Last Time

At this point, Snow White's Scary Adventures is long gone. It's kind of sad just because of the more recent memories I have on that ride. When we went with our group in Feb 2011, we were all cracking up about how scary such a "simple" ride could be! I hate that forest scene! Yet there's something about going on that ride that makes a trip to Disney complete, so it's definitely going to take some time to adjust to it being gone.

Walking on over to be scared one last time!

Doesn't it seem so innocent from the outside?

We were both trying our hardest to get some good ride vehicle shots because those of you "know" me know that I am obsessed with them especially ride vehicles on their tracks!

We kept attempting, but the line was moving pretty quickly so we weren't standing still for too long. Plus, it was constant loading and unloading so there would always be people in it.

At least this one's a little bit clearer even though the foreground is washed out.

Seeing control boards still amazes me because it makes me think about all the brilliant minds that had to go into making these rides a possibility.

There we have some TRACK! LOVE IT!

Yes, I am posting two pictures of just the track for the ride vehicle. I am so fascinated by it. I always wish that our transportation on a day to day basis could be on tracks like this. I don't take the subway in NYC since I live and work in the suburbs, but the times that I used to take it to get to church for practice didn't provide this much thrill.

Pretty good! It's really wonderful how even the ride vehicles have to be deocrated. They could have easily just left these as brown wooden carts without the owl eyes and the squirrels.

As with most dark rides it was almost impossible for us to get photos. I think only recently did I notice that the evil queen was in the upstairs window!

Fast forward a bit in the ride to the part where the dwarfs are on the mountain.

Kiss! I wonder if Snow White had bad breath after being out for so long. I mean, I can sometimes get "nap breath" and feel so grimy from a quick nap! Haha, is that too much information? I'm sure it happens to the majority of you too so I don't feel so bad, haha.

So long! We will always remember you guys! Hope to see you in your new ride!

We popped our heads in the gift shop nearby. I don't often see cars with antennas on them anymore, so where do people put these antenna toppers?

I am obsessed with hats like that. When I was in 5th grade, we went on a field trip to Medieval Times and all the girls in the class were buying hats like that in pink. They were expensive, so I didn't want to get it and I knew it wasn't a practical thing. When I went again the year later in 6th grade, I didn't get the hat, but I got a wooden sword instead. I have always thought back about that hat, and so in VMK, I saved up credits and traded for rare items like all the ones that you could get only from the boxes of the actual VMK pins so I could put together a good "package" to trade for the princess Minnie hat! And then I finally got it, and I rarely took it off in the game! My favorite item ever. Even more so than Inferno magic (that a kid scammed from me on the last day the game was open ... and who I later found on YouTube because he took a video laughing at the fact that he scammed the magic pin from me ... I digress).

I like looking at things like this, but we don't like many knick knacks and picture frames mainly because we have no place to put them. We got pretty frames for our wedding too, but we haven't been able to use them because we have no ledges or bookshelves or mantles or ... ANYTHING!

Looking up.

If this Mickey tote bag had a zipper on the top of it, I might have considered getting it because I loved that it was pink and green! Those were our wedding colors and really the colors that just represent us from years back. This would be a cute tote to just carry around, but I like having my bags sealed unless it's like a beach tote. Unfortunately, this was too small to be a beach tote. Oh, and I also don't like the beach. Haha.

Howard's lens kind of distorted this picture, so I look taller and thinner than I really am, haha.

Then my camera didn't take a very good picture here because the castle is washed out. Whoops! No matter; you can at least see us, haha.

One last window picture before moving on ... the inner scientist in me really likes this because of the set up of all the chemistry stuff. When I was in high school and had to take bio lab, chem lab, and physics lab once a week during 0 period throughout my freshmen to junior years, I had so much fun playing the scientist! The only thing I had my lab partner do was turn on the bunsen burner because I didn't like the fire aspect of it. But I would pretty much do everything else, and my lab partner and the pair at the same table would just copy my answers. Everyone always seemed confused as to what we had to do, but we always watched the teacher do it first, and we had a sheet of instructions! Guess they didn't like reading and following them! I liked mixing things together and the way that we were supposed to hold the stopper upside down while pouring acid. Seeing displays like this brings back those memories where I contemplated doing something science-y in my future!

But enough about science and school ... where would we go next? Hmm, I'm feeling a little hungry ...

I miss Snow White! I'm so bummed they removed it.

I like that bag too. It's not very practical though, is it? But cute!

I think it's sad when other generations in the future don't get to experience the things we've experienced! Of course, I love all the changes they've made, and I definitely prefer a ride like Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin over Dreamflight, but I was so sad when they closed Dreamflight too!

Yeah, it's not really a practical bag especially when you live in NY and have to be protective over your things as if everyone and anyone can just steal from you! Haha, I know it's not that bad especially because I live in the suburbs, but my mom got that whole "it-needs-a-zipper" thing ingrained in me and most of my bags do!

Aww, I miss the Snow White ride. :( Atleast they are building the mine train ride so that should be awesome. Maybe it'll even be open by the time I go in December. I can hope, right?!

Lighter Fare at Columbia Harbour House

We were starving at this point, so we headed to one of our favorite places in Disney to eat - Columbia Harbour House! Growing up, my family always ate at Cosmic Ray's, so when I first started reading things on DIS and actually doing research before a trip, I found out about CHH and was intrigued. During a trip with my family in 2008, I mentioned that I wanted to try it out, but my dad also wanted a turkey leg. Little did we know that there was a cart right outside of CHH too! We ended up eating elsewhere so that we didn't have to trek across the park for two different things. Now I got my mom and younger brother loving this place too (my dad never tried it as he doesn't hit the parks anymore), so it's a must do for us and my hubs too, of course!

We were the first people in the restaurant or the first to order, and the CMs were very cheerful and wished us a happy honeymoon because of our pins. Then someone else came in with a birthday button, and they made a really big deal about that. Haha, I wanted to be like, "Excuse me, don't steal our thunder!" I admit that a small part of me was hoping that we'd get a free dessert or something during any of our meals, but alas, it just wasn't meant to be. I know it's definitely not something to expect, but my hopes were raised when I read other Disneymoon TRs where couples were getting surprises at almost every single stop they made! I guess Howard and I had enough pixie dust between the two of us just celebrating the fact that we were married and in Disney alone!

We got our tray of food and took it upstairs to our favorite place to eat. There are the two tables next to the windows where you can see Liberty Square, and we nabbed one of them. There are actually three tables there, but the middle one doesn't have a view from what I remember. It was also time to take a million pictures of our food!

Excited to eat!

Can I eat yet?

Howard ordered the Battered Fish Basket, which is served with either steamed fresh broccoli or French fries ($7.99). As you can see, he got the fries. This is our go to meal because we think this is one of the best places for fish and chips! We haven't tried the place in the UK and we didn't try it at Raglan Road, so this is a good place to get a quick bite. In comparison to the hamburgers that I grew up having to eat, this was definitely a change, so I grew really attached to it.

Huh, I just realized that I do not have pictures of the food from my camera. I wonder what happened there! Oh wait, I already lost battery at Haunted Mansion, so that's why it just kept dying on me afterwards! There we go, haha. That explains the lack of close-up pictures that I normally take.

Despite my attachment to the fried fish basket, I ended up ordering the Lighthouse Sandwich, which was hummus with tomato and broccoli slaw on toasted multigrain bread with potato chips ($8.99). Because of the heat, I didn't want to risk not feeling well by having fried food. I had my gallbladder removed years ago, and things that are high in fat or oil can still sometimes make me sick if I eat too much of it, so I didn't want to risk it. I had read great reviews about this sandwich and the Anchors Aweigh, but I chose this one as mayo tends to make me sick too.

In my opinion, this was at first a strange sandwich because of the textures of everything inside and the lack of a big hunk of meat. Plus, I was staring Howard down with his fried fish and wishing I had ordered that. I do believe he gave me a bite to have some, and I definitely had some of his fries as I usually do. But then as I continued taking bites from the sandwich, I grew to love it! Haha, I know it's really strange, but this then became one of my favorite things to eat from this entire vacation! Because it's much lighter than fried food, it was easy to eat, and it was really perfect for the weather. The broccoli slaw was definitely a great addition as it added crunch to what would otherwise be a mushy sandwich. I felt energized and refreshed because I knew I was still getting protein from it (haha, my mom brainwashed me into thinking I always have to have protein in my meals even though I'm typically not a fan, but I still think about it even when she's not around!), and it was definitely an excellent choice. Since then, I still kept thinking about it and actually craving it so much so that I ordered it again in December even though the cold weather was a perfect opportunity for fried fish. I still think about it to this day, and it's the strangest love for a food item that I've ever had since I didn't love it from the start, and it definitely isn't like, one of the best tasting things I've ever eaten (you know, it's not like that shrimp in green curry sauce from Sanaa ... that is no longer there after the new menu change, sad ...). I have no other words to describe WHY I love this sandwich this much except for the fact that it was the right thing for me to have at that time, and so I grew to love it!

I'm sure the atmosphere attributed to it being a great sandwich too!

We love people watching, and I've spent time up there writing updates on my trip journal too sitting by one of those windows (though not on this trip ... I was not into taking notes during our honeymoon!).

We were wondering what that CM was doing down below! The janitor walking by seems to be wondering the same thing!

You ever think that it might be possible to catch other DISers in random photos like this? How funny would it be to be reading a TR and going, "OMG, that's me!"

We finished eating our entrees, and I'm pretty sure I put the potato chips away in Howard's backpack for a snack later on. I love Disney's chips because they're more substantial and much heartier than some other brands. But of course, I have a love for kettle chips, so it only makes sense that I really enjoy these. Before we left, Howard actually moved the little curtain thing aside on the other side of the room so that he could take a picture of the construction going on. We didn't know what it was at the time, but those are now the Tangled restrooms if I'm not mistaken!

With a good meal giving us some more energy, we were ready to see what else Magic Kingdom had in store for us!

Aww, I miss the Snow White ride. :( Atleast they are building the mine train ride so that should be awesome. Maybe it'll even be open by the time I go in December. I can hope, right?!

You can definitely hope! I can't wait to ride the new one, and I'm pretty sure I'll probably love it more than Snow White's Scary Adventures because it'll be a coaster that's more my speed. But of course, now that we don't know what the one is like just yet, we gotta mourn the loss of something from our childhood! Haha.

I have always wanted to try Columbia Harbour House. I can understand the feeling about your meal. You were on a special trip, in a great restaurant looking out on an excellent view, with your new hubby. What a fantastic memory!

I think the crowd was watching the town crier serenade someone. He did the same to my daughter for her birthday on our last trip. :) We loved it!

Kettle chips are the best!

Kettle chips are the best!

I love that there are delicious seafood options at a CS place! You definitely described it for me well! It really was a special trip and a fantastic memory!

Ohhh, that makes sense! Haha, from our point of view, it looked like a proposal or something!

They really are! I also feel like it's easier to eat fewer chips when they're the kettle chips whereas the other ones are dangerous cuz I can eat the entire bag without even realizing it!

Main Street Philharmonic

This will be a super quick update because there isn't TOO much to say about it, but if you've never watched the Main Street Philharmonic, you must! When I saw them playing after we left Columbia Harbour House, I just had to go over and watch. You see, Howard and I have an "argument" (haha, not a REAL argument) about whether or not marching band is better than chorus. I am a marching band kid whereas he was a boring ol' chorus member. We were both part of really good programs as my school was asked to do special events like the Yankees ticker tape parade after they won the World Series and the parade celebrating Buzz Aldrin (along with the annual trips to play in Disney World though I never went). His chorus group in his high school won a ton of competitions too.

Of course, we like to have the friendly "competition" about which is better. My argument is that technically anyone can sing although not everyone sings well, but you have to be dedicated to learn how to play an instrument too! Haha. I still believe that that's the case, but of course, I was a band geek. By the way, those of us who were in the marching band didn't actually join because we wanted to. Being part of band meant being in concert band AND marching band. It was part of the deal!

Anyway, you can understand why I was really excited to see these guys although it's not a full marching band with all the instruments. I played the flute for 8 years from 4th grade to junior year of high school. If I stayed in the band during my senior year, I would've been section leader of the flute section, which would've been AWESOME because the section leader got a little braided thing attached to the marching band uniform AND didn't have to wear the clunky hat where we'd stick all our hair into like these fellas had to wear. I would've gotten a beret instead!

These guys are HILARIOUS. The lead was cracking all these jokes, but there were definitely a lot of planned jokes and such because the group would respond to certain things. Then at one point they pulled a lady out of the crowd to participate by honking a horn! It was so funny and definitely worth watching.

Since we had just come from lunch, I didn't even mind the sun beating down on us. I can't imagine how hot it was for these guys! I remember we were in a local parade one time, and it was so hot in our uniforms! Some of my bandmates including one of my friends even passed out from heat exhaustion! As we were marching, the band parents were passing around cold water bottles so that we could take a drink in between playing. We were all sharing the bottles, which is really gross when I think about it now, but that's how desperate we all were. Kudos to these guys for dealing with the heat and still being really entertaining!

I hope to catch them again when it's not too hot.

It must be fun to be part of this group!

At CHH, those "under construction sheets cover the windows." I was so disappointed.

Little secret about the band guys. There are 3 groups and they rotate every 20 minutes. They pop up and down from certain areas from the Utilidores. Just like the characters, they rotate every 20 minutes.

I was a band geek and I cannot sing. I can play the piano too.

We have never eaten at CHH. It might be because I don't eat a lot of seafood I guess. Lol. I would be willing to give it a try in the future. But this trip we want to try BOG for lunch if we can. :)

I too played the flute! I didn't do band my senior year either. I wanted to have a fun sr year and honestly I wanted to have my weekends that year instead of going to competitions for band. Hahaha. I can still play my flute but the only song I can play on it is the Star Spangled Banner. It was drilled into my head.

My oldest is in marching band and loves it. We marched at Disney World back in April 2012. The kids had a blast and so did I.

Time to Be Scared, One Last Time

We popped our heads in the gift shop nearby. I don't often see cars with antennas on them anymore, so where do people put these antenna toppers?

We put them on my van. LOL. I have the Minnie Mouse one right now but I'm sure I'll get a few more for the van when we're down in 10 days. :)

Such a cute bag! I plan on getting a new bag this go round. and I can hear Jason telling me, you don't need another bag! Hahahaha :rotfl:

Then my camera didn't take a very good picture here because the castle is washed out. Whoops! No matter; you can at least see us, haha.

Such a great picture of the two of you!!!

I replied this time in the purple. :)

I love CHH! It never seems that crowded and the quality is always high.
Haha, I have to go with Howard on that one! I was also a chorus nerd (was in the madrigal choir), but I do have respect for instrumental musicians! I've never seen that band before, seems worthy of a stop and listen if I do see them in September!

Found your TR again and catching up on all your updates.

I Love IASW too, I actually like the song for the most part and almost never get sick of it, LOL

I love the Minnie Princess with that cone shaped hat! When I was in HS, I was in the school plays/musicals my last 2 years and one was "Camelot", and one of those hats was part of our Costume, it was so cool! I think I still have it in a closet somewhere.

You ever think that it might be possible to catch other DISers in random photos like this? How funny would it be to be reading a TR and going, "OMG, that's me!"

There was a thread back a while ago on the Theme Parks Community Board (not sure if it is still there) that was called "Is this you" where people would post pics of random people and crowd pics to see if other DISers could see themselves in them. I'll admit I went looking at a few that were around dates of times I was there but never found myself in any of them.

I haven't posted in forever since I now work from home and it seems like time just gets away from me every day! I love all the updates! AND I'm so excited for your upcoming trip. My husband and I are going with my parents in September and sometimes it's nice to just be the two of us in the parks and sometimes it's nice to have other (Disney loving) people around.

I don't know much about alterations, but maybe you could get that bag and add a zipper? I love having zippered bags. I guess I don't like feeling like all my stuff is "exposed".

That's too funny about your Mom making you clean your room before vacation! Mine did the same thing! And now I drive myself crazy where I'm up at 2 a.m. the night before we leave on vacation cleaning and organizing our house. It just feels so good to come home to a clean house!

I love the rocking chairs! I never even noticed them there. One of my favorite spots in all of MK is on Tom Sawyer's Island where the rocking chairs are down by the water in that covered area next to the little restaurant that's never open. It's so quiet and peaceful!

I love all the little facts around Disney. I always point out the 13 lanterns on the big tree by the Christmas shop in Liberty Square and sometimes, depending on who I'm with, I'll see them quietly trying to count the lanterns like I'm just making this stuff up :lmao:.

Can't wait for more! And if you don't get a chance to post again before you go, have a safe and fun anniversary trip!! Oh, and happy belated anniversary! My how time flies...
