Have you taken the plunge?

Tell me about your system. Brand, size... likes, dislikes.... how much memory......

We are looking at personal ones for running.

Thanks!!!

I have an Apple iPod. Love it. It has 20gb memory and can hold 2,000 plus songs. It's only about the size of a calculator . . . pretty small and lightweight but sturdy. Can't think of anything I don't like about it. They come in both Macintosh and PC compatible versions.

I have a Rio Riot and I love it.

It is a 20 gb model and is so easy to use plus it can hold my entire CD collection - I am talking hundreds of CDs - all at once. I love it and couldn't live without it anymore especially at work. I love having my entire CD collection available to me all the time! :)

I went a little smaller and cheaper. I got an iRiver MP3 player (I forget the model number.)
It's only 128MB, but it holds about 40 songs (As long as they're not "Stairway to Heaven" or "Do You Feel Like I Do" length songs.) It's the size of a cigarette lighter and is extremely light. I get about 24 hours of play time out of a single AA battery. It cost me $115.
I love it. So far it's been rock-solid dependable and very reliable. For my needs (something to listen to while I walk) it's perfect.

I have a Treo 15 by e.digital. It holds 15 gigs, and I got it off eBay for around $115. It is little rectangle, about the size of my palm. I do know that it is much smaller than the Rio Riot. It is an off-brand, so no one has ever heard of it before hardly. I like it, but when I purchased it, I was definitely under a budget. I like the software that comes with it...they have their own program called Music Explorer (basically identical to Windows Explorer) which makes it really easy to add songs. It is very easy to use, but it lacks the features of the Rio Riot (the personal DJ type stuff.) I like that you can buy an extra battery (they are rechargable, though) and each battery lasts about 10 hours before you need to recharge it. I also hook it up to my car's cassette player with an adapter I got from a local music store, which is nice for long road trips. Although it's great, it also takes a long time to start up (with it only 1/2 full) and sometimes when I start it up, the screen doesn't appear, so I have to shut it off and restart it, which can be a pain. If you aren't restricted to such a low price, as I was, I would recommend the iPod. It seems to be so much better designed. :)
