I'm trying to help my step father..He's looking for a program that he can download music onto his MP3 player..he does not have CD's so he's looking for a program that has the music he can download..he prefers it FREE..are there still such programs out there? we tried a few different ones but they all want you to PAY for each song...I don't have an MP3 myself so I'm sorta lost as to where to direct him...if anyone can help I'd appreciate it! TIA!

Amazon.com offers a free mp3 song every day, their choice.

itunes offers one every week. And again, it's a song of their choice.

If you have an American Express card, you can sign up to get 5 free itunes songs of your choice when you add the card to you itunes account. The charge is credited back to your American Express account. Google "American Express iTunes" to find the link. Offer is good until 3/15/11.

If you are a Premier Silver member of Best Buy's rewards program, you get free access to Napster streaming music and 15 mp3 download credits every 3 months. You decide how to spend the credits.

Those are the only ones that I know of right now.

It's not free but sounds like a good deal. Doesn't Rhapsody have that deal with unlimited downloads for $10/mo?

Library is another good place to look for music.
