Mowing the lawn at 7 am...

I had a neighbor who called me to complain that my dog barked 3 times at a squirrel at 2:00 in the afternoon.
I told her that when he was barking at 2:00 AM, then she could call me.

A friend suggested that if she wanted to hear noise, that I should turn a chainsaw on on my back porch and let it run from 8AM to 10PM.

I also checked our town's noise ordinance and it's 10PM-8AM.

I'm a sound sleeper though, so someone mowing at 7AM probably wouldn't wake me.

Yeah when I know they are going to last later, I give the neighbors a heads up and tell them to call me if we are being too loud. And I always offer the invite to them. He's just a grouch.

Well then there isn't much else you can do, but he probably will wake you up in the morning.

This is MY pet peeve: Almost everyone around here uses a yard service for yard care. There is one neighbor whose service comes at 7 AM every Saturday morning. They have gradually started a little later, so it's closer to 7:30 now (hey - maybe in a few more years it will get to 8 AM!) We don't get humid around here; we're inland, so we don't get the summer fog like they do in San Francisco, but we don't get very hot 'til about mid-day - and that's only a few days a year. Our temperatures are moderate year-round, so I don't put up with any of that "gotta do it before it gets too hot" - that just doens't fly around here. This is the service that will mow in the winter with frost on the lawn! If they waited 'til mid-day, the frost would be gone!

We are just outside town limits, so the noise ordinances for the county are more lenient than the town ordinance. So, yeah - lawn-mowing before 8 AM on a Saturday morning bugs the heck out of me!

A retired neighbour. A saturday morning. He wasn't going anywhere! PLEASE!

My reply was general, not directed at you .... that is why I said "some people." If I have to clear snow so my wife can get to work at 5:00 am, I have to do it. She is a nurse and there is no calling in due to weather. Lucky for me, my neighbors are extremely understanding people. For the handful of times it happens in the winter, it is just one of those things you have to deal with.
