My husband has been transfered to the Burnaby office of his company and we are now looking at relocating to the Vancouver area from Edmonton Alberta. I honestly am looking forward to no more -40 tempatures. Anyways we have decided on Tsawwassen as where we would like to live. My husbands co-worker lives there so they can tele-work together or carpool if heading into the office. My questions are does anyone know what the schools are like there aswell as childerns activity like soccer/hockey/music lessons are like...I've got prices on some but more interested in experience. And anything else you can tell me about Tsawwassen would be great. We will be putting our house on the market by the end of the month but hoping to be able to finish the school year out here before moving. My kids are currently in grades 2 and 4.

Thank you to anyone that can offer any information.

Jennifer

The schools are not bad there from what I've heard. If you are the beach type, Centennial beach is great for the kids, and I take them there at least once during the summer months when the time and tides permit. The lowermainland has a pretty active soccer and hockey. I know that there are arenas there, but haven't thought much about it. If you can't find anything in your price range in Tssawwassen, try Ladner. They are pretty close together, and is a really nice small town to raise kids in, but the lots are pretty small. So if you are interested in land, Tssawwassen might be the place to go, but keep Ladner in mind.

Good luck with your move. I don't know much about the Tssawwassen area, (other then how to get to the ferry ) but it is a long commute into Burnaby from there, including bridges which get pretty backed up during rush hour.

See if there is a website for Ladner and Tssawssen (I can never spell this). That should give tons of community information.
Best wishes on your move.

You could look into commute times on the BCAA website Trip tracker or Google your husband's new office and select directions from a location in Twassen to give you travel times from different places. Translink gives you public transport routes and times too.

It might affect where you settle as commute times to Burnaby might be long.

Best of Luck with your move !
