Moving Reservation - Sun, Fun & Savings

Hi everyone! I know these are very uncertain times, and I know that the parks may not even be open and travel may not be allowed, but please humour me as I dream that a Disney vacation is still a possibility.
If I currently have a room booked at one resort under the deal noted above, but want to change the date to an earlier date (so the SF&S is actually being offered for that time too), do I need to hold on to my original room reservation to be able to switch it (like how the bounce back works)? Or can I cancel the original one and just book the new room reservation when I want? I currently have a reservation at a deluxe with one night's deposit already paid, but thinking I should just cancel it BC I know I won't need it, and book the earlier date (value resort) when I know for sure the parks will be open. Hope that makes sense.

For any promo, you can change your reservation to other dates covered by that promo, as long as there is availability under the promo. This is true for any General Public, AP, Bounceback promo, etc.

If you see a "Change" button, you can click on that and you will see an option for changing your dates.

If you don't have a Change button, you can book a new offer and cancel your old one.

If the promo has expired, don't cancel your current room. You probably will need to call in and they will need to loop in Guest Services, so they can see what rooms are available under the promo.

EDIT TO ADD:
I just checked and the Sun and Fun can be booked through August 31st, so it's not like it's expiring anytime soon. You can cancel the current reservation you have if you are sure you are not going to use it. Then, look for availability when Disney reopens. Sometimes the offers expire sooner and in that case it's valuable to hold on to it so you can switch to a different date, even after expiration.

Ahhh. Ok. Do we know when the booking deadline is for sun and fun?
So if the booking deadline passes and I still have my original s&f reservation, will I get that discount at the other resort if I switch? My concern is that if it's no longer offered, I can't transfer that discount as there would be "no rooms available under that discount". Is that a correct understanding?

They extended the Sun and Fun offer to August 31, bookable until August 31 - "save up to 25% on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights April 1 through August 31, 2020 when you book through August 31, 2020."

Just keep in mind if you've made any ADR's under the prior reservation and you change the dates, you'll need to update your ADR's.

You can get the discount at the new resort IF there are rooms available under that discount at the new resort. Even before the promotion ends, it’s possible for availability to be nil or very limited. Once the promotion ends, you may not be able to book that promotion at the new resort; Guest Services may be able to help modify the reservation at that point but I wouldn’t count on it.

Just as an example. I upgraded our Aug 4 thru 7 reservation to CBR with the discount. I was able to get a King bed room Nice, however that was the only........the ONLY room available with the discount.
