Moving Points on a Reservation

I cancelled a reservation and banked the points into next year. I asked that they be applied to a reservation I have in September and she told me it could not be done. I have had MS offer to do it for me before so that 2010 points could be used before going into my 2011 points.
Did I get someone who doesn't have a clue or is this not done anymore? Thankfully I guess I don't have much experience in cancelling reservations!

What is your UY? I'd guess it must be Aug or Sept and if that is so then give a call back and talk to a different CM.

Another possibility is that there was no longer any new availability for your dates (altho that's unlikely in Sept), and that you made your reservation between 11 & 7 months with home resort points...

As I understand it, points reallocation is very doable if the points are being moved to a reservation made without home resort priority points...but if the reservation was made w/home resort priority points, they have to cancel & rebook rather than reallocate...

Could that be the issue?

I am not sure what you are saying about cancelling and rebooking. I want my banked 2010 points to be applied to my reservation rather than my 2011 points.

They can do it but they frequently won't. They are far more likely to do so if it's the same home resort. Worse case scenario is to wait list for the same time and if you match, cancel the one with the newer points. Also book any individual days that might be available using the banked points and WL any other days you need. You can later cancel individual days out of the original reservation if needed.
