Hi

We are going to do 9 nights at Disney and 6 at RPR Universal. Am going to rent DVC for Disney, and was going to book Saratoga Springs as it is near Downtown Disney for the nightlife, but Animal Kingdom looks sooo nice. Do you think it would be more hassle than its worth to move from AKV to SSR half way through the 9 days? Disney move all the luggage dont they? Is it still the case for DVC guests? What about checkin - does this need be done again, or just get a new key?

Many do not mind moving in the middle of their stay. I prefer to settle in and stay put. It's really a personal preference - yes Disney will move your luggage.

You may be out of a room between 11 am and 4 pm as there is no guarantee that you AKV room will be ready when you arrive to check in. Yes, you will have to check out of SSR and in to AKV. It will be two separate reservations.

If you want the DDP for all 9 nights of your stay, you will have to add it to both reservations. You can get it for only the SSR portion or only for your AKV portion if you want. If you have tickets added to your key when you check in to SSR, you will have to keep that key to use as your park ticket even after you check into the AKV. You may have to do a bit of extra calling if you decide to utilize ME. The DVC member will add it to your reservation, but the two reservations/resorts can throw a glitch (easily resolved with a call) into the equation for the return trip.

Hassle to move? I say yes, others say no and do it all the time. Up to you.

I'm with Carol on moving. We like to stay put. We have done four resorts in one trip and it was okay, but it was a hassle to be homeless for so many days.

You will have to check out and check back in. Like Carol said, your room may not be ready until after 4PM and you must check out by 11AM. There is no late check outs with DVC.

We did it on our last trip, and it was fine. We went to Epcot on our switch day and then went to SSR around 1-2pm to check in. Thankfully, SSR was empty so we were able to get a room right away.
Our only regret was that we were having so much fun at BWV, that we didn't want to switch, but we ended up having fun at SSR too.
It was a good way to experience two resorts in one trip.
We also had two small kids with us with all of their gear, and still didn't mind packing up. We would do it again if it meant that we could get into a resort that we really wanted to stay at.
