Moving boxes

DH not wanting to use used boxes from Sprawlmart or grocery store etc says boxes are now made for 1 time use and never sure of what you might bring home besides the box.

Where is a good cheap source for new moving boxes? I checked online at office depot an Uhaul both about 3.00 each for the size boxes we need. At that price I think we can use used boxes from stores. The use a bit of bug spray in box before putting our stuff in them.

They sell them at Lowes and Home Depot, I purchased a bunch from Lowes, medium size and I think they were like .97 each. Other than that I would not know. Hope this helps. Jo

Uline is great. I bought my bubble wrap there for my last move. Also, Costco gets in a moving package every once in a while that may be on line as well. It has different sized boxes plus bubble wrap.

For us, and we've moved twice at our own expense and packing, we had a friend who's mom worked for a hospital supply company and she gave us boxes. We are still using Biogel boxes from 4.5 years ago. They are great. So see if friends have boxes like that.

I've gotten moving boxes from Sams Club (locally) and ordered from Costco in the past. The Costco ones include shipping/handling charges. Here's their link.

And ditto also to the recommendations on Uline. I've ordered bubble and shrinkwrap from them and have had a good experience.

I've seen huge combo packs at Costco but I'm not sure what they run, I haven't moved in a while! But I've always been happy with Costco on the value and quality of everything else I've ever gotten from them, so when I do move they'll be my first stop for boxes.

I wouldn't put bug spray in the boxes and all over my stuff!

After we moved last time I listed ours on Craigslist under the "free" section. Got rid of them that way pretty easily. Ours came from the moving company and we threw away any that I didn't think were clean. Lots of wrapping paper too.

Uline - we were close enough that we picked them up at one of the warehouses. The boxes ran around $1 each, and were very sturdy.

Uline is an excellent source - but, if you need them, now - your local Public Storage (the rental spaces), has a complete line of moving supplies for sale.

I have moved about 10 times myself and helped a bunch of friends move (being in TV news I had to move around a lot and help friends.) I would get cereal boxes from the Supper market or to go the Liquor store for good boxes. TV news didn't pay that much so had to cut corners where needed. I like the boxes from the Super market just make sure they are in good condition and they should be good for you. Good luck and remember that a good friend will help you move a better friend will help you move a body!!!!!!! LOL try not to stress a whole lot.

www.uline.com is probably the best place to go for boxes. And before my last major move I was able to get 20 cubic foot bags of styrofoam peanuts for about the same price Office Depot was charging for three cubic foot bags. And you can get portable wardrobes, etc.

Home Depot has 3 sizes of moving boxes.
small is 67¢ (16x12x12)
The medium is 97¢ (18x18x16)
The large is $1.37 (18x18x24)




They also have bubble wrap,shrink wrap, wardrobe boxes, tape, paper for wrapping dishes and breakables(careful with newspaper... I had a few collectables get ruined from the ink )

I know they have 'bundles' online...but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper in store.

Be careful with boxes that contained food...sometimes you end up with bugs from them... and it's not fun to bring them with you to a new place
