Movies on Virgin

Does anyone know if the Virgin planes have been upgraded yet to have the play on demand movies. (Flying from Gatwick) Was a little disappointed last year as our movie would finish and then would have to wait ages for all the rest to finsh before they were reset again. Also is there any difference to the inflight entertainment in PE.

No play on demand yet, don't know if there is a schedule for it.
Flew E in July, PE going out in Sep, no major difference in entertainment that I could see.

No upgrade the last time I was on... I don't think PE inflight entertainment is any different - except maybe a larger screen...

We flew over last Monday - PE from Gatwick and the system is just the same as always and the screens are no bigger either. The stewardess was saying that they are bringing it in soon.

Last year when we flew home in economy it was a different plane with the hand held controllers and the selection of games to play aswell as the normal movie and TV channels.

Have to wait until next trip for the new planes unfortunately.

the planes on the Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow routes whilst being the youngest 747's in the Virgin fleet, have either (the majority) NOVA system and a few Odyssey equppied planes.

The IFE is the same throughout the plane, there is not a different system for each cabin.

As far as I am aware, the refit of the Economy/PE cabins being carried out next year does not include a change of IFE, as the cost of rewiring/refitting a new IFE is very high per aircraft, which will be replaced in a few years.

Nova is still better than single screen in front of you systems

When we flew Heathrow/Miami in August, we had the movies on demand with Virgin - it was excellent and, to be honest, we are considering doing this journey in the future due to the level of entertainment, the quality of the food and the standard and comfort of the plane. I've never had such a good transatlantic flight

i can never find the info on the virgin website. im sure it used to be there?!

I notice it quotes 50 movies, although I think only about 10 are shown on an individual flight (if I remember correctly) ??

It depends which root you fly I think.

If your on a plane with the on demand system there are a ton of films. Otherwise I think your right and there are usually about 10 or so.

We are going MAN - MCO, which I believe isn't on demand.

I flew in August even P.E there were no on demand movies. Standard system. I have enjoyed both of my Virgin flights, but my poor parents had such a bad experience with Virgin and it being thier first Virgin flight too. Rude cabin crew, disorganised and ran out of drinks after 4 hours. My parents dont drink it was a problem for them when they only had water and still had 5 hours to fly to Vegas.
