This is a long shot, but does anyone know where the beach scenes for this movie were filmed.

Watched the first part of this movie last night while flipping channels and the ocean water looked blue-green, so I am thinking Fl Panhandle. Plus the sand was referred to as "baby fine" .

Any movie trivia buffs out there?

I was thinking that it was Martha's Vinyard?

Not sure about the beach scenes, but I do know for a fact that a portion of it was filmed in Navarre Beach (right outside of Pensacola). From what I remember, it was at a hotel (pool/conference room scene???), so it stands to reason that they used the beach there for some scenes as well.

Do you mean the original Jaws or the sequels? It's supposed to be somewhere in New England, right? This is an interesting question, hopefully someone will know for sure! :cool1:

Yes, I mean the original Jaws movie.

I have been to the Pensacola/Navaree Beach/Destin/Perdido Beach area in the northern Fl Panhandle on vacation twice, and I would swear the beaches in movie looked like Panhandle ones.

They didn't shoot the entire movie here, but like I said, there were definitely scenes shot here. I was in middle school at the time, and it was a big deal on the news channels here.

I clicked on the above link. I would love to see Martha's Vineyard some day. It looks like such a cool beach, minus the shark, of course. It aslo says taht some of the footage of the sharks was shot underwater in Australia. I have also got to go to The Great Barrier Reef someday! :cool1:

My grandparents were vacationing in Marthas Vineyard that year and got to be in the scene where everyone is in the water and Roy Scheider comes running down screaming "Everyone out of the water". You can't see them, but they had a great time running out of the water screaming over and over again that day!

Thaks kbkids,

You lived in such a beautiful area!.

Kbkids, I just noticed you still live in Pensacola, lucky you.

The beach scenes in JAWS 2 were filmed on Pensacola/Navarre beaches.

Most of the filming in the Pensacola area was in the Gulf Islands National Seashore/Fort Pickens park. The lighthouse seen in the movie was built on the end of the island west of Fort Pickens. I actually stood at the base of the lighthouse, as we were camping at Fort Pickens during the filming of the movie.

My aunt has a picture of Roy Scheider lying in a beach chair down at Navarre Beach, close to the Holiday Inn.

Thanks, Steve.

Now I am going to have to rent Jaws 2!!! My kids and I toured the Fort Pickens area two summers ago. Too bad the Fort sustained such heavy hurricane damage last fall.

In Jaws I, where they see the shark swim under the small bridge and the girl yells "shark!! Shark in the bay!!" --that bridge--I jumped off that bridge...several times!! I spent a summer with a friend who lives in Cape Cod. Yes, I think it was Martha's Vineyard. Beautiful place!!

DH and I were both born and raised here. Never lived anywhere else, and really don't have a desire to. We both love this area!! And being here for so long, we'd made tons of friends, that I just can't imagine ever leaving.

According to www.imdb.com it was

Cyndiu, my cousin lives on the Vineyard and was an extra in one of the beach scenes!

As a family of Jaws fans we have been over the "island" and saw where some of the scenes were shot. You gotta love those 70's fashions!
