Movie ticket prices - $12 at our AMC now!

$12 isn't that bad. In NY/LA/Miami it's $13; an IMAX 3D movie is $21.

It's actually $13.50 here in LA now for just a regular showing. That's if you show up at the theater, wait in line for 15 minutes (even for the automated kiosks), and then find that the only seats available are the ones in the very first row.

Thus, we pay an extra $1/ticket to reserve a seat online prior to show time. The AMC we go to has assigned seating so if you don't buy online before you go, you're going to end up in a horrible seat because everyone buys online before showtime. So, yeah... $14.50/person to see a movie in LA.

Oh my goodness! For the price of two adult tickets, you can buy the movie on blu-ray at regular price ( not on sale!!!).

We went to the movies wednesday and it was $8.75 for an adult tic and $6.75 for a child. An adult is considered 12 and over  I think thats robbery considering my 12 year *adult* can't go into an NC-17, or an R rated movie. It should be based on what you can get for your money, if you can't see an adult movie, then you shouldn't be charged adult prices.
Anyway, it looks like Regal is a little bit cheaper than some but they make that up at the concession. I bought a $4 big box of m&m's and inside was a tiny bag that was the same size as the little ones you get at convenient store. I told the kids next time we are smuggling in our own :rolleyes1

Yes, but Disney charges kids 10 and up (I belevie) for the dining plan adult prices too! And most kids that age can't eat as much as an adult either.

I think the prices are high for most theatres, but to me buying the DVD is not the same experience at all. We do buy alot, but for ones we want to really see it, there is nothing better than the big screen!

At our local theater matanees (for shows starting BEFORE noon) are $5. I think that we paid $12/adult, forgot what the kids price was. It was way too expensive and not worth it to take the kids to the movies. What as once a treat is virtually non-existant.

So happy, DH just found our Princes and the Frog vouchers from WDW! Now we can go and see it!

Our AMC is $10.50 - dd13 and her friends want to go today, but they've already gone this week, and dd said "it's so expensive!:

You guys will flip on this one. LOL!
DD and I went and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks right before Christmas. My mom wanted to see it and take my DD and my neice, and and I to come along and help out, so we saw it today for the second time...then my DD and niece are spending the night at my moms so DH and I are going to see New Moon tonight. So 2 movies in one day for me. LOL!

I have always been partial to AMC and have a moviewatcher card and will go out of my way to a AMC theater because they allow you to bring in outside food. When I saw lord of the rings a few years ago it started at 10am and did not finish until after 1 and I would be hungry part way through the movie. Edwards (regal) would not let me in with my Carl's jr burger but AMC didn't blink an eye and that is where I have gone for movies ever since. Occasionally my kids and I have picked up to go meals and ate while watching a movie. We usually buy popcorn and drinks too. Now the AMC has a very prominant sign saying no outside food or drink which I think is wrong. I bought a large drink and small popcorn yesterday and it was $10.50. I had a costco movie ticket so I didn't notice the ticket prices. I will now go to the closer or discount theaters. I think disallowing outside food or drinks will hurt in the end, it's more of a principal thing for me. I don't want hotdogs, pizza or nachos and I don't want to pay $10 for a cheap tasting hotdog!
