Movie ticket prices - $12 at our AMC now!

we went to the movies yesterday and i think it was 13$ for both of us. it was a 4:30 movie so it might have still been matinee pricing. it is a 'goodrich' theater.

Have your AMCs stopped advertising? Ours did last summer.

Ours ramped up the advertising. Now it's 10 minutes of regular ads, then 15 minutes usually of previews and then the movie finally starts.

I go to matinees usually and I really need to notice how much tickets are. I buy them online and just pick them up at the machine outside the theatre. I also have the movie watcher card and love getting free stuff.

If you have a Kerasotes theatre near you, they have a nice program where you can get tickets for $5 apiece, no matter what time of day or day of the week. You have to wait probably two weeks after it comes out, but that's nothing compared to the savings (it's even cheaper than the matinee or student price!). Go to www.kerasotes.com. There's a link to their 5 Buck Club on the left. You sign up (free) and they mail you the number of cards you need for the people in your family -- we have four -- and every Thursday you get an email that shows the movies playing at your theatre, the times, and which ones are available for $5.

I live near a 24-screen AMC theatre and we're big movie fans. A year ago, we went to AMC 100% of the time. Now, it's about 60% and going down. I'm willing to drive five miles to see a $4.50 matinee (up to 6 p.m.) when AMC charges $10 beginning at 4 p.m.

The cheapest price ever at our AMC is $5 and most of the times regularly that price have been $7.50 the past week b/c of "holiday pricing." Concession prices also have gone up recently.

The new food and drink policy at AMC will also affect our business as we sometimes go there when it's just DH and me /c we like to go to Starbucks first.

I am guessing you go to the one at concord mills? I believe it is $5 Mon-thurs for all times...except holidays. I take the kids there all the time during the week.

Thats why I don't go to the movies unless I REALLLLLLLLY want to see it.

for this year so far it's only two movies: twilight saga: eclipse (which i will prob see a good 3 times) & toy story 3

for $12 you can buy the dvd used on amazon without the noise of kids and all

You really have to watch the differences between theaters and times ... my 13-year-old is considered a child at one chain and an adult at another. One chain stops its matinee pricing at 4 p.m., another at 6 p.m. (which is how I ended up paying $9.75 for a 5:20 p.m. Avatar show last weekend ... grrr)

I do like that my local AMC does $5 shows before noon on weekends. We've seen several movies that way. I never buy concessions and I have never had a problem bringing a small amount of food in to eat, like fruit snacks or a candy bar in my purse. I don't do drinks during a movie because then I don't make it through the show!

wow! Thats insane! We rarely go to movies, just the Disney/Pixar ones that come out each year. Obviously this year it will be 2 movies (Princess and the Frog and TS3 in the summer). But wow! I just can't believe it. :scared1:

We see movies at Bow Tie Cinema.

Members see movies all day on Tuesday for $6.00.

Otherwise, $8.00 for adults (matinee) $10.00 (evenings), $7.00 for children (day or evening) and $7.50 for Seniors (day or evening).

For $12.00, you can just wait and buy the movie on DVD for a couple dollars more.

We don't go as often as we used to. Our theater is $9, I thought that was too much. We usually wait until it comes out in video. With netflix, redbox and even blockbuster, we don't mind waiting a while until it comes out on dvd. There's a $1.99 theater that we'll go to.

We wait for the movie to come to the 2.00 cinema. It takes a month or so (where the wild things and astro boy are playing now) and offers a couple for kids, 2-3 PG-13 and a R one sometimes. Pop corn is 4.00/ large- free refills (we share) and sometimes take our own candy if we really want some. 12.00 for our family of 4 to have a fun eveing!!

We went to the movies wednesday and it was $8.75 for an adult tic and $6.75 for a child. An adult is considered 12 and over  I think thats robbery considering my 12 year *adult* can't go into an NC-17, or an R rated movie. It should be based on what you can get for your money, if you can't see an adult movie, then you shouldn't be charged adult prices.
Anyway, it looks like Regal is a little bit cheaper than some but they make that up at the concession. I bought a $4 big box of m&m's and inside was a tiny bag that was the same size as the little ones you get at convenient store. I told the kids next time we are smuggling in our own :rolleyes1

We went to a Regal cinema today and got the matinee price $8/adults $7/kids. Our evening prices are $10.50 for adults. And the concessions were highway robbery....$18.75 for a large popcorn and 2 medium drinks!

My favorite theater is now the Landmark Cinema chain. For $12 you get the movie and popcorn/soda INCLUDED in your ticket price. You can pay a couple bucks more a ticket for VIP tickets which are closer and have bar service. Since they serve drinks, the crowd tends to skew older plus they show a lot of movies that haven't been released nationwide (They've been playing Up in the Air for a couple of weeks before general release.)

I have a Kerasotes across the street that I generally go to but it seems so dirty and dreary. Especially for $10 tickets. :(

We only go to movies in at our local theater. Prices went up today: $6 for a regular movie, $7 for 3D (New! Just saw Avatar yesterday! Awesome!). Matinees are $4 and $5. Previously all evening movies were $5 and matinees were $3.50. It's still a good value at $6. We usually go to matinees anyway. We went to a movie at a Regal cinema last spring and it was crazily expensive. We'll watch it here or wait for DVD now. The food prices are good here, and they allow you to bring outside food. Dh and I can go to a matinee for $8, and food is $6 for 2 sodas and a giant popcorn.

I don't mean in-theatre advertising -- ours does a pile of that, too. I mean things like listings in the newspaper and entertainment guides, so you know what's on. Ours is now doing zero, so you have to look online if you want a movie schedule.

Yes. Unfortunately, our Monday-Thursday schedule rarely allows us to see a movie -- I get home between 6 and 6:30 and still have dinner to deal with and DH is sometimes hours later than that. We would be doing 9 or later shows and that's just too late on a work night. They also have started charging $7.50 for some of the new releases, even when it's not a holiday.

The theatre we're starting to go to more and more is Carolina Mall Cinemas -- $4.50 until 6 p.m. and $6.50 afterward every day and concession prices about 1/3 less.

our local AMC is about $11.50 and that is where we will go if we want/need 3d-hd whatever. but our local theater is 4.75 all the time and gets new movies twice a month. we will go there if we can. the only thing is that they are only there for a week. so if you don't go the first week you are out of luck.

We typically do matinee movies for $6.50 each. If we do go at night (rare), we use the entertainment book coupons for Regal and get in for $7.50 each. We also have a Regal Crown Club card where we get free tickets and free popcorn & drink coupons.

Also, on Monday it's $1 candy and on Tuesday it's $1 popcorn for a small with the card. We can upgrade to a medium for $1 or a large w/ free refill for $2. Last month the Regal Crown Club website had a coupon for a free large drink w/ the purchase of a large popcorn. Go on Tuesdays, get the $2 upgraded popcorn and a free drink. What a deal!

Our local theater is Cinemark and we pay $6.50 after 6 pm or if you go before 6 pm it is $5.00. Also, on Tuesdays, all day and night it is $5.00 Per person, which is when we go! :) They have a child's box at the snack bar that is $4.00 and you get a small drink, small popcorn and a box of candy...you don't even have to be a child to get it either! :)

We also have a movie theater that is $2 per person, it only plays movies that have been released for awhile. It is nice to go there if we have missed anything that we wanted to see...usually the movies they play have been in and out of the 'premium' theaters already! :)

The Starplex Cinema by me is only $3.50 before 6pm....so thats where we usually go. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
