With the spring/summer season of movies about to start. I thought we could share movie reviews.

We just returned from seeing Tom Hanks in "The Ladykillers".
It is dark humor with alot of swearing.

I thought it was a riot - very different- and appeals to my sick sense of humor. Really unique. LOVED it.

Poor DH was in visable pain. I'm afraid I'll have to agree to multiple sci-fi movies to make up for this choice.

It's one of those movies I want to see again. I just know parts went over my head the first time. The music is alot of gospel, sort of like "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" It was great.

I haven't seen any commercials for that movie. What is it about?

It's a remake ( I don't remember the original). Peter Sellers was in the first one.

It's about a lonely landlady who talks to her dead husband's portrait. She is church going, gospel singing and cat loving. She rents a room to Tom Hanks. He and four other men from different walks of life get together to plan a robbery of a casino. They pretend to play music so they can spend time in her root cellar digging a tunnel to the casino.

They all have quirky personalities. That's what makes the movie so funny. Even the cat is a riot.

I don't want to tell anymore I'm afraid anything else would spoil the movie. I think it may be one of those movies you either love or hate. It's just very different. Most of the people in the theatre were laughing hard. Two walked out. :teeth:

I have to tell you, this looks like a movie that shows a TOTALLY different Tom Hanks. That laugh of his in the commercials are a little odd :) Can't wait to see it though :)

Now, if you wanna see a "dark" movie, check out the new Dawn of the Dead. Creeped me out pretty bad!

Thanks wishuponastarforever. Tom is my favorite actor, so I just might have to check it out.

I just saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and really liked it. It's a nice change to see Jim Carrey in a serious role and I liked Kate Winslet with her funky hair colour! There were a couple people who walked out of the theatre while I was watching it but I suspect they were expecting a funny lighthearted Jim Carrey comedy.

Dh and I saw Dawn of the Dead yesterday, loved it!

I've gotta tell you, it takes a LOT to scare me (movie wise). I found myself double checking the locks, etc. on our front doors when I got home after this movie!! :)

Just got back from seeing "The Ladykillers" and I agree that it's a terrific movie. My dad loved it, too. Very funny and dark. Has that Coen brothers quirkiness I so love. Admittedly, I'm a big Coens fan, so I'm biased. This movie is much, much better than their last (Intolerable Cruelty). Tom Hanks is just terrific. :D

I saw Jersey Girl the other night. This one's a real stinker! I didn't go into it expecting an Oscar-worthy movie, but I did at least expect to be entertained. I almost fell asleep twice and would have walked out if I hadn't been there with friends.

I love movies with Tom Hanks in them. I must see that one. My DH will probably want to see Dawn of the Dead, but I dont like Horror movies much. I just saw Scooby Doo 2 and it was fantastic. I laughed all the way through!!! the computer animation of Scooby is brilliant. I thought it was even better than the first Scooby Doo movie which I watch every weekend:crazy:

tomorow i am going to see the sneak preview of Julia stiles new movie. I'll write back then with a review.

So, did it help?!?!?!

DS wants to see this and, quite honestly, the original Night of the Living Dead was the first horror movie I ever saw and, MY DEAR MOM was the one who made us watch it with her (she was such a scaredy cat)! I can NOT watch ANY horror movies at all anymore! :o

As for the other movies, I want to see them all! Adding them to Netflix right now!

We saw Scooby Doo 2 andTaking Lives last night at the drive-in. Scooby was ok. I liked the first one better. I was happy to see Daphne kicking butt. Tons of bathroom humor, which I think is funny but I know others do not. I'd give in a 5.5 on a scale of 10. Taking Lives wasn't bad. It has a few jump out of your seat moments. I wouldn't recommend shelling out $8 for it but it is worth renting. If nothing else it does star two beautiful people, Angelina Jolie and Olivier Martinez. I rate this one 6.5 out of 10.

DH & I give Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind two BIG thumbs up! What a movie! Very Being John Malkavich/Magnolia-ish style of movie. I absolutely loved it.

Also give Ladykillers two thumbs up as well. We laughed a lot.

Tom Hanks' laugh on the commercial is enough of a reason to make me want to see "The Ladykillers"
Would not go to see Dawn of the Dead, since I saw the original Night of the Living Dead while in high school at the drive in..........scared me silly for years.

I agree totally with The Ladykillers! Is there nothing that Tom Hanks can't do?!?! We've been *trying* to talk like him all day long now! It was very funny and very on par with Oh, Brother! Definately one to buy when it comes out!

Also saw Jersey Girl on Friday night. Although I appreciate the fact that Kevin Smith has grown up a bit we we really bored with this movie. It was VERY VERY predicatble, but I will say that Ben Affleck worked his acting chops. He's turning into quite a good actor. Otherwise, I really dont recommend it.

Then last weekend we saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. WOW... What a great great movie! We LOVED it! This is a definate keeper as well.

So all and all I hope this is a sign of good things to come as far as movies are concerned this year!

Tom Hanks deserves an Oscar again for his portrayal of the Professor!!

my sister loved Jersey Girl and I loved Dawn of the dead(remake)

Thank you joats - gonna go see Iternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Sounds great.:teeth:
