i can't afford to stay in disney - the four star movenpick is a bit cheaper than the two star at disney.

anyway - i was thinking of staying there for my first time to disneyland paris.

is this hotel any good?

i have read in simon's book that the shuttles to disney are every 15 minutes - although this is the last hotel that it collects from.

i was thinking of going early july.

opinions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

xjx

I havent stayed but the photos I have seen look lovely.

We stayed at the Moevenpick for 3 nights at the end of March this year. The room was great and the breakfast excellent, better than any of the Disney hotel breakfasts (including Castle Club which is pretty good). The only word of warning concerns the description of room views, as if you book a Country view you will end up overlooking the car park. The real country view has to be booked under Lake or Garden view, this however does cost approx 10 euros per room per night extra.

The Shuttle bus is very frequent, better service than the yellow buses that go to the Disney hotels. The first stop is always My Travel Explorers hotel the other 3 hotel stops vary according to which driver you have.

We will certainly stay at the Moevenpick again.

They have a great web site which you should check out as it allows you to see all the different rooms they have. It is also the cheapest way to book a room there.

We stayed next door at the Holiday Inn. Shuttles are great for getting to and from park and hotel.
Movenpick is a great looking hotel :)

i have just booked three nights there in july.

my first trip to disneyland paris :cool1:

I have 4 nights booked 29 June thru 3 July.
The reviews are mixed (those on other travel web sites).
However, the stuff people seemed to complain about seemed rather trivial to me, so I booked it anyway.

Every review mentioned that the breakfast was good.

If it is the last hotel the shuttle service stops at, I wonder if there will be standing room only (or even worse, no room at all).

The hotel also gets top reviews for theming, and I love castles.

When I get back I will write a more useful review (or at least as useful as any one person's opinion is to others).

This explains why my reservation did not say "Movenpick", but only Dream Castle Hotel.

Interesting, when one searches for "Dream Castle Hotel" in the major search engines, links to numerous travel sites come up, but this site does not come up.

Thank you for the link.

I have never been there but always thought that the rooms look very nice. I have heard that this hotel is one of the few that is widely used by the Brits. Our German members may correct me here, but I have heard that it is very popular with Germans?

Judging by the pics, I would think you would have a super stay there:)

Hi,

I am here right now, and I don't recommend this hotel unless you like the smell of perfume.

My room has a very strong perfume smell that is making my eyes sting a little.
The good news is the window does open, and there is a breeze.

I think they didn't have a non-smoking room, so they tried to cover up the smoke smell in this room.
However, I don't really smell smoke at all, and think that they may have put more effort into cover-up than needed.

The view is awsome. If DisneyLand was doing fireworks, I know I would be able to see them from my room.

The room is very small, but I think it is sort of cute like that. However I haev one person (only myself) in this room.
In fact, if it were not for the perfume smell, I think I would like this room a lot.
I like the slopped ceiling effect, but I am short.

The room has internet access, but the access is really expensive (22 euros for 24 hours or 88 for a week). The hotel I was in earlier this week, in Grenoble, charged 17 euros and we (my co-workers and I) all thought that was high compared to what we were used to paying when we traveled to places. Had I realized they were using the same company as the hotel in Grenoble had used, I would have purchased a 10 day package, instead of day by day. One of my co-workers recommended I do that, but I wasn't sure if this hotel would be using the same service.

The tub/shower set up is really nice.

So if you like the smell of perfume, I guess so far I would recommend this hotel. If you are sensitive to either smoke or perfume, than I don't recommend it.

With the window open, the smell wore off soon enough. I was not bothered by the smell at all, by the 2nd day.

I would not give this hotel 4 stars, however, I didn't pay 4 star prices either.
Compared to other hotels with the same price, it is fine.

The Explorers (next door) has a better bus waiting area (with benches in the shade), and the bus stops there first.
It must be something the Explorers hotel has negotiated, because otherwise stopping at the Explorers first, and the Dream Castle last (with 2 hotels in between) makes no sense to me.

can you walk over to the explorers hotel to get the bus? is it within walking distance?

Probably, however I did not try it, so I don't know if one would encounter a barrier of some sort. It seems like it would be a short enough walk.
Of course one could go out to the road and walk.
One person was going to get off at the Explorer's and walk, but his wife convinced him to just stay on the bus until it got to the Dream Castle.

If traveling with luggage (such as to and from the train station), it is best to do this at times when people are not as likely to be going to and from the parks.

Here are some of the photos I took at the Dream Castle Hotel

The single King rooms (with one king bed), on the top floor, have sloped ceilings. While this probably adds to the look from the outside (giving it the look they wanted) it does take away cubic footage from the rooms, making some of the square footage useless (except to store junk).

This feature does allow for a little fun with the window display.
I was tempted to get the large stuffed Minnie as a Princess (and do the princess in the tower theme), but I didn't want too large a plush to bring home (nor did I want to spend the 30 Euros).
I tried a similar theme with my Madeline doll, but she was too small and my zoom (either optical or digital) was not enough for the look I wanted.
So I settled for this one:

To give you an idea of how small this room really is (although it was big enough for me).

The lobby had some nice set ups for photo opportunities.

It also had some things which both added to the decor, and served to get the kids to ask their parents for coins.

The views from the hotel were awsome. If DisneyLand did fireworks, I am certain one could see them from the hotel.
I don't think there could be a room without a good view.
Here is a view from the back (my room faced the front)
dream-castle-view-back.jpg

And below is the view out my window:

I found the bed and bedding to be quite comfortable and the bathroom well designed with everything in very good repair.

The dinner buffet was way over priced, and not at all quick. I decided to try it, after seeing very long lines at all eating places in the Disney Villiage. When I consider how long it took between the time I was pretty much done eating, and I had settled the bill completely, I would have been better off waiting in a line in down town Disney.
The food was quite good but not the quality of what I would pay that much for. It cost more than I would normally pay for a very fine meals at a very fine restaurants where I live. But I don't eat large volumes of food.
The breakfast buffet was far more efficient. Because everything was included, there was no need to wait around for a check to settle. I was always quickly seated, and could leave as soon as I finished eating.

I don't think they place the same emphasis on non-smoking rooms as most hotels (non Disney owned) do in the states. However, it was obvious to me that someone had gone to some effort to cean the room of smoke residue for me.
All the bedding was quite fresh. There was a strong perfume smell the first day, which I discovered was coming from a large chair someone had tried to rid of a cigarette smoke smell. I was able to eliminate the smell by leaving the window open.

The closet had a strong ceader smell. I think this was intentional. I left it open with the window also open.

I didn't use the pool or hot tub, but it all looked quite nice.

Thank you for writing that Eileen, it's really helpful for anyone planning on staying here. :)

I love your photos with Madeline and Mickey in! :goodvibes
