We are planning a 2 week WDW (and surrounding) trip in 2002. Orginally the timeline was May, but with work schedules the only time we could easily get away was late May (memorial day-ish). So, after much thought we are now thinking early Septemeber.
Starting the trip over Labor day weekend and then the 2 weeks following.
Points are lower...and I am assuming crowds will be also.

Is that assumption correct and what kind of weather should we expect.
I plan to check out the boards (trip reports) after those weeks this year to see what things are like.
But any thoughts a few months earlier will put me at ease.

The big downfall being...we have to wait 4 extra months. :(
Which means it will be almost 2 years between trips.
The longest span since we Honeymooned at WDW in 97.
(Boy, do I sound spoiled or what?)

Thanks for all your help.
We are thinking of spliting the time between BWV or WLV studio and a OKW 1-bdrm.

September should be less crowded (with all the kids going back to school).
Also, the temperature is a little milder.

We've been there during both times and I definitely prefer September due to the shorter lines and smaller crowds.

The one drawback is that it is usually more rainy in September and you are in hurricane season (although you are inland). Not a huge concern but one to note.

The only negative I've noted in Sept. is that some rides/pools close for renovations.

I believe the BWV pool is scheduled to be closed part of Sept. so you might want to check. i believe it is noted on the DVC website.

Good luck!
:D

hi: no, you're not spoiled, just addicted.september and may are our two favorite months for wdw! there are lower crowds and earlier closing hours in september. bring your ponchos and an extra pair of sneaks in case you get caught in the rain. we were there the last week of september,2000; and the only rain was the first day for about 2 hours and it ended just in time for illuminations. we've also had september visits where it would rain a couple hours every day; the rain does chase the people away so most rides aren't crowded at all. have a wonderful time!

Sept. is a good time to go. Crowds are smaller because it is schooltime but it is hot. The other nice thing is that MK stays open later in Sept than in the later fall and winter months. Bring along your sunscreen and enjoy WDW.:bounce: :jester:

We've gone in sept. 4 years in a row. Until the kid's schedule causes me to change, I will continue to do so. As everybodies already mentioned, light crowds, weather and waits.:jester:

Thanks guys. I appreciate your help.

Since you have mentioned weather.... are the water parks open in Sept?

Thanks for mentioning that pools may be closed for renovations. Great to know. :D

Interesting... We have gone Labor Day and beyond twice, and both times it was miseably HOT!! We decided to change to October next time. We like January best for crowds and weather!

we went last sept and we were almost the only ones at stormalongbay. it was very strange but cool.so many lifeguards and no people. dave:cool:
