Mousesavers reporting a huge deal for first half of 2009 coming tomorrow!

We have AP passes this year too, but we are staying at WL in a deluxe room so I'm wondering if the savings would be worth it. Of course I guess it depends if they make us buy 1 day passes or 4 day passes. According to my math even buying 4 day passes we would save around $1000.

I'll be interested to see. It's the dining option that will be a deciding factor for our family. Just room and tickets 4/3 isn't THAT great of a deal. But add in dining 4/3, and we're there. I almost have to believe the dining is an option, or I don't think it would be touted as such a HUGE deal. I guess time will tell. I like to think Mary knows a HUGE deal when she sees one. :)

My thoughts exactly. Without the buy 4/get 3 free on the DDP part of the package, free DDP is still a much better deal for our family. Why? Because rooms are cheaper in September. Here are my numbers for our family of 4 (3A/1C) at a moderate resort WITH 4/3 DDP:

June ($185/night):
$740=4 nights room (3 free)
$496=4 nights DDP (3 free)
-$36=3 free days on park tickets
$1200=Total

March ($195/night):
$780=4 nights room (3 free)
$496=4 nights DDP (3 free)
-$36=3 free days on park tickets
-$200=gift card
-$75=dh's birthday gift card
$965=Total

Same package WITHOUT 4/3 DDP:

June ($185/night):
$740=4 nights room (3 free)
$868=7 nights DDP
-$36=3 free days on park tickets
$1572=Total

March ($195/night):
$780=4 nights room (3 free)
$868=7 nights DDP
-$36=3 free days on park tickets
-$200=gift card
-$75=dh's birthday gift card
$1337=Total

Free DDP trip in September ($149/night)

$1043=7 nights room
$0=7 nights free DDP
$1043=Total

So, with the dining plan included in the 4/3, it's actually a better deal for us to go in March over dh's birthday than to wait until September, as long as we only want to stay 1 week. Of course, we usually stay for 2 weeks, and for 2 weeks the free dining will work out to be a better deal, but to be able to go sooner instead of later I might still consider March. Come on 5 o'clock!

I am pouting that I cannot take advantage of this. My AP expires 1/30 and I've got to squeeze in a trip before that to make that worthwhile. My AP rate at WL is a better deal for January. I have been working hard on my DH to book a trip for our two early March birthdays (they are 4 days apart and my youngest will be 3, last chance to get him in for free!) but he is wrinkling his nose at the idea of being crammed into POR and/or spending the $3k minimum to move to WL (where we'll also be cramped but he is the only family member who has never stayed at WL and he really wants to). I think he's Disneyed out. *sigh*

If nothing else, Disney would lose the money that the person would have spent on items other than the room rate if they left early.

Yeah, I thought of that as well. The cost of the room is nothing and neither is the park ticket to Disney. However, if the DDP is to be included in the promo, well then hands down Disney is better off if someone leaves early!

BTW - love, love, LOVE your avatar! :thumbsup2

That is what I am trying to figure out. Unless you are staying Deluxe I just can't see this being bigger than Free Dining for 7 days. But if they include the Dining Package then that would bring it up. It still doesn't seem like it will be a lot bigger than Free Dining. Particularly for Values or moderates. 7 days of free dining was huge, 3 days of room, tickets, and dining seems to be just about the same.

But I haven't actually crunched the numbers.

I wouldn't be. If nothing else, Disney would lose the money that the person would have spent on items other than the room rate if they left early.

But we could 'just leave' - we could up and leave on the 7th morning and not stay that night, disney would have my credit card and I would be leaving charges on that anyway. The room sits empty for the night and no one is any the wiser. Housekeeping goes in to clean the room for the next guest and we are gone, just like we should be. No one goes to the front desk to check out anymore anyway. I know I didn't last time, just left all charges on the card, hopped on DME and left.

Mousesavers says that AP holders got a AP room only rate for end of May through August last year. What was the discount or rate for Values??

It also said they offered a "AP package deal w/ dining." Was this just the AP room discount plus reg. cost of dining plan or was it a discount on room AND dining? I'm trying to get the history so I can figure out what deal may be best for us if history continues again...

Last year there was a blackout from maybe 5/18-5/27 or so. It was the room discount and you could add dining at reg price.

I really hope dining is included!!!! or at least can still be added to keep it valid.. :cheer2:

I for one am excited about the deal...right now we have a 7 night package booked at All Star Music, with the basic dining plan and 8 day park hoppers. With my AAA discount we are paying $1700 for 2 adults.

we're going to Disney for sure, air has been purchased for months and DH and I have been toying with the idea of a resort upgrade. This may be our last Disney trip for awhile and we really want to try AKL or WL, but couldn't swing the cost. We were looking at moderates, which would add approx $600 to our trip price

By my calculations, this deal would allow us to stay at WL or AKL for approx $2,214 (if we have to pay for all 7 nights of dining). This is only $500 more than our value resort stay would be, plus I think we are eligible for the $200 gift card (going Jan 27-Feb 3)!

I am done work at 5, but will hang around a few minutes to see what comes out and book on the way home (don't worry, someone else will be driving :drive: )

I just spoke with a CM and I told her what I knew and she said, Oh, it is way juicy than that! Not sure what that means though. She did say the booking window is huge! I should have asked about Dining being part of it.

I think you're the perfect candidate for this! I would even consider dropping the dining and using the $200 gift card for some nice meals. This way you wouldn't be paying much more than the Music for the Wilderness Lodge!

What are they giving free rooms LOL Wonder how it's juicier.....maybe she was just pulling your leg? Hmmm, just a few more hours and we'll all know ;)

What exactly did you tell her that you knew? Man...if they throw in free dining, I think we're there ;)

We were planning on going for two weeks in March staying at the Pop. I was going to break everything down. Paying from Dining oop, tickets from undercovertourist and then AAA discount for our room. It looked like our trip would be around $4000 for DH, DD2, DD4 and me. Now I need to do the math. It appears we could save money big time on this deal!

I found this on another thread . . . Is this the current rumored promotion?

For every 4 nights - you get 3 nights free!
For every 4 days of tickets - you get 3 days free!
If you book your trip between January 4th and March 29th, you also receive a $200 Disney Gift Card to spend!

*****Book between November 6th and December 20th!*****
Travel between January 4th and June 27th!
Travel between January 4th and March 29th to include the Disney Gift Card.
Travel between March 29th and June 27th to include the discount, but not the Disney Gift Card.

Am I doing my math wrong, because I am missing how this is a huge deal. It seems kind of mediocre to me. I am trying to get all excited like you guys are! :lmao:

So I priced out my family of 5 for POR for March 10-14 (to figure out what the price is). With standard view, basic tickets, this is $1964. Subtract the $200 gift card, so $1764 ultimately. Add dining, we are looking at $2416 (or more, that's pricing only 4 days of dining..) ultimately $2216 after the gift card.

We went in August, using the free dining promo..our package was $2100. So this new promo, this HUGE deal, is actually $100 more, at least.

Am I missing something? This isn't really that great of a deal unless you were going anyway, not a reason to book a trip especially because of this deal.

Question:

If I book a 2-BR in Saratoga Springs with 3 adults and 1 kid for the seven nights....can I later add one more adult and two kids (the room supposedly sleeps that many) without incurring a penalty for adding more people to the room reservation?

Deals will certainly help keeping people employed!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
