Disney has raised wages across the board and offered generous signing bonuses for entry level positions. There literally aren't enough bodies in Central Florida to staff the hospitality industry without robust legal immigration, even during "normal" times. That's not the solution, the solution is for them to pay respect but wage that encourages people to work for them!
Galactic Starcruiser is a 2 night experience so...I bet the Galactic Star Cruiser is making beds every day...
Everyone is short staffed now. You seem to think that Disney is magical and can snap their fingers and fill every position instantly. To believe that Disney can just instantly fill all positions "if they wanted to" is hilarious. Especially for something like housekeeping. It's a crap job that people don't want to do. I have yet to see anyone say that they would happily do that job.You seem very invested in defending Disney’s housekeeping cost cutting! What an odd cause to take. There are lots of hotels and resort areas providing much better housekeeping than Disney. The rack rates of disney hotels are incredibly high—Disney was able to figure out housekeeping in the past and they’ve been in the hospitality industry a very long time. I can assure you that if they wanted to, they’d find a way to provide much better housekeeping than they do now, where apparently you have to ask several times to even get your trash taken out.

I totally agree with this, and also those "other" hotels may not be nearly as full as Disney's, creating the appearance of better service.Citation needed.
Because at Universal, they're only providing housekeeping to their top-tier hotels. The lower-tier hotels don't even get trash or towels unless they request it.
It's also uniquely problematic in Central Florida and Las Vegas. No other place has such a high concentration of hotels in such a small footprint.I totally agree with this, and also those "other" hotels may not be nearly as full as Disney's, creating the appearance of better service.
There are little multiple citations in this thread so perhaps read it if you want examples. I’ve also stayed in several hotels since Covid hit (but within driving distance) and all provided housekeeping, even back in summer 2020Citation needed.

This is just a strawman argument. I tip housekeepers every day of a hotel stay and have never said entry level workers get paid too much, but “lol”? I’m the first to admit that a housekeeping job is a very challenging position. And i think disney should prioritize it more. Disney resorts are in the *hospitality business.* Hospitality business has traditionally meant providing solid housekeeping services. If you want to spend your time making excuses for a billion dollar company, that’s your prerogative, but not everyone agreesI am so laughing at all of the people that have always said that entry level workers get paid too much and that they dont deserve more money. Many of you wouldn't even tip housekeepers because "they're getting paid to do the job". But as soon as it starts to affect you personally, you all are saying "pay them more money". Lol

What a weird attempt at a burn. I’m sure Poughkeepsie is lovely and it sounds like you’re familiar with it as a vacation destination but I can assure you there are many attractive tourist destinations within driving distance of…Manhattan that are not a random upstate Holiday inn. Again, if you read the thread, you’ll see that disney is advertising a pay of $17/hr and that people have had to repeatedly follow up just to get their garbage bags picked up. If that’s the best service you think Disney can provide, okay, but it sounds like you have a particularly low expectation of their abilities. I don’t think pay can solve *everything* and i agree more visas are needed but better pay and prioritizing it could certainly help improve what they’re doing now.The Holiday Inn Express in Poughkeepsie isn't operating and staffing 36,000 rooms on a single site.
New York City has about the same number of hotel rooms as Orlando. New York City has about 30 times the population of Orlando. One of those is much more able to self-supply their own labor force. What a weird attempt at a burn.
