Do any of you ask Mousekeeping just to leave fresh towels, etc. instead of cleaning the room and making the bed?

We have done this in the past when we have come back to the room to nap, and the room hasn't been cleaned yet. We NEED that nap with young children and do not want to be disturbed.

My question....if you put out the "Do not Disturb" sign, will they just try back later? Do you call and ask them to bring linens for after your nap? How much does it put Mousekeeping out-of-whack to request earlier or later cleanings?

If you leave the "do not disturb" sign on your door the whole day, they will leave a bag with clean towels & soap.

I have called and asked for early housekeeping, it wasn't a problem.

I recently stayed at POR with my grandmother who became ill while we were there. We called housekeeping and asked if they would please not clean the room until we called back. I'm not sure if this was because she wasn't well, or if they'll do this at any time. In addition, I'm not sure what time the housekeeping staff leaves, so you may want to factor that in.

We have left the room for the day, and forgot to take the Do Not Disturb sign off. They left a bag of towels, washcloths, soap and extra trashbags on the door. We were very thankful, since it was our own stupidity!! LOL

I put the Do Not Disturb sign out and then call when I'm done. They seem to be cleaning until close to 5 p.m. In the future I will call for morning service.

Like tifandjim, we've also forgotten to take the DND sign off the door, and were left a bag of towels, soap, and washcloths.

PS: Geaux Tigers!!

Ariel,
I'm psyched-up for the Lady Tigers now (and baseball)! The basketball team have a real chance at a national championship, but they are going to have to play really hard! Come on, Sunday!

Hi LSUDis,

We have always had good luck calling housekeeping just before we leave the room and asking them to make up the room by a certain time.

The room is always completely made up by the time we get back! that will save you the trouble of the clean towels etc at naptime!

We've also left our Do Not Disturb sign out until late afternoon. We didn't expect Mousekeeping to come back and clean but they did.

A few years ago, I left the DND sign on our door at the GF one morning when we left to go out for the day. When we got back there were voicemail messages that were practically yelling at me for it. If I remember correctly, I called when we got back and explained what happened and they were still pretty irate about it. I don't think we got any service that day.

We're staying at the Beach Club this year, so if I make that mistake again, I hope they're a little more understanding about it! I hate getting yelled at when I'm on vacation. :sad2:

wow, just another thing I love about this board, we also have small kids who need their nap and I never thought to request mousekeeping to come by a certain time.

Overall, I have been very happy with mousekeeping except for one occassion. We stayed at the BWI last year for our honeymoon. DH was feeling ill one morning so I put the DND sign on the door. We both fell back asleep and at 8:00 mousekeeping knocks on the door. We didn't answer it because we were in bed and I didn't feel like getting up. So at 8:15, the phone rings. Again I didn't feel like getting up so I didn't answer it. Now remember I do have the DND sign on the door throughout all of this. So then comes another knock on the door, at this point I'm starting to get a little mad. 9:00 rolls around, DH is really feeling ill and keeps getting woken up, the phone rings again. So I get up and answer it...it's mousekeeping. She wants to clean the room. I asked her to please skip our room for today that DH is ill. She then tells me that I need to sign a form stating that I refuse cleaning for the day. So I have to get up and get dressed and no sooner that I get dressed that she's knocking on the door again. I was VERY annoyed!

Has anyone else ever had this experience?
