Mousekeeping? toilet paper, shampoo, soap?

Just returned from an SSR studio. We had an extra box of tissues, and 3 extra rolls of toilet paper. We also had 2 sets of toiletries, but only one packet of regular coffee (no decaf -- not that it mattered).

Yeah, we haven't gotten a decaf packet in ages. But we usually make a Publix run to buy coffee, cereal, and breakfast sweets.

I've asked the mousekeepers in the hall for extras (shampoo, a towel, an extra pillow, TP, etc) on both of my DVC trips (and we did not pay for extra mousekeeping, I just stopped them in the hall) and on both trips I got them with a smile.

Nope, your dues (and all the other members at that DVC resort) paid for those.

Timeshares don't give out free stuff.

Yeah I get that. But they didn't hassle me or charge me extra.

I don't think you do get it. You still paid for it. Everytime you get something from housekeeping you are not entitled to get, you pay for it.

The only time we had shortage with TP was at BLT studio.
For some reason they didn't give you the extra roll like other places.

No problem with 1br tho. Only studio... weird.

I can see why that happens. If you are in a studio, it is actually part of what should be a two bedroom, so the extra rolls are probably in the closet of the 1 bedroom portion.

No, you may not have, but they have to account for where it went so in the end, all those "freebies" end up being charged to DVC and then we all pay for it with higher dues.

So, if members continue to ask mousekeepers for free things, when you are not entitled to them for free, that portion of our dues goes up. Good for you in that particular instance, but for the membership as a whole, it is not.

IMO, and that is all it is, we all know what comes with our timeshares and should follow the rules. If there are that many members who want to see things changed, then they should write DVC. But, I think most of us find that the current schedule works.
