Mousekeeping Tips?

There are varying schools of thought on this with Mousekeeping not being a tipped position, and tips are incl in their wage, vs people tipping $1 per person per day. You could prob. do a search on the topic to see what has been said in the past. Then decide what you want to do.

$1 pp, per day, +$1. So a family of 4 it would be $5, or for 2 it would be $3. Of course feel free to leave more or less, but that is the general rule of thumb.

At most all hotels (;)) we tip $1 per day per person. If we've been messy, eating in the room, etc, I add a couple dollars to that.

It's a personal choice to tip or not. This is just my personal opinion: Housekeeping is there to take care of the room, if I have made a mess (crumbs on the floor, extra trash, etc) I want to show my appreciation to someone who will be cleaning up after me.:)

We leave a dollar per person per day. There are 4 of us, and usually clean before we hit the parks!

I think you are supposed to leave a note to say its their tip, or they may not pick it up. :thumbsup2

There are four of us so we leave $5 a day. I've never left a note. I just leave it on the pillow and I've never had it not picked up.

This past trip I left a plain white envelope each day marked "housekeeping" and left it either on top of the dresser or on the little table by the door. It was always gone when we returned. This schedule is pretty typical in the timeshare industry. Since owners pay for the cost of housekeeping, limited services are the norm.

We always leave a note. We leave $4 for 2 people. $1 for each person & $2 for the room.

We fold a piece of paper around it -- "For Housekeeping - Thank You!"

We always place it on the nightstand between the beds.

We typically leave $5 for our family of 4. I put $5 bills in envelopes before we leave home and write "Thank You!" on the outside and sometimes put a Disney sticker on it also. I just leave one on the foot of the bed every day and they are usually taken, maybe once or twice it has not been accepted.

I was just reading one of my old papers from a previous stay at the Boardwalk. In it it discusses Tipping. Here is what is states:

We are often asked about gratuities. At WALT DISNEY WORLD, it is customary to tip our following positions for exceptional service: bartender, bell services, cocktail server, food and beverage server and valet parker.

Nothing about housekeeping because they are non-tipped position. But if they do something way out of the way, you can leave them something if you wish.

I've looked through the other newsletter from the numerous other resorts that I have stayed in at WDW and they all say the same.

The section about Housekeeping in the same newsletter doesn't say anything about gratuities, jsut that Housekeeping Department is there to assist you during your stay.

I make envelopes with Disney characters that say "thank you for taking care of us.". I leave one on trash & towel day and one on check-out day.

$5 sounds like a good amount but i would not tip that every day, for an 11 day stay that is a bit much. I only get housekeeping every 3 days so that is reasonable.

Do they have to share tips at disney though? Anyone know? I work in a hotel & our housekeeper tips go into a pool & they get it twice a month among themselves because their room assignments change daily & multiple people can be in that room.

Being a bigger resort maybe they have them only on one floor & this is a non-issue?
